  1. LOL! I don't need to remove them. Have had filefish before and they are pretty easy to catch.
  2. ? they are going to stay permanently! It’s a trade off for doing their job. I’ll just have to keep zoas elsewhere.
  3. That’s is pretty cool!
  4. IMG_0358 by Chuck, on Flickr IMG_0357 by Chuck, on Flickr Tank update after clownfish eviction Well, the two filefish done a great job with the majano, but also clean out my zoas (fortunately I was able to save my rasta). Ate all my nuclear green paly. Used to have several colonies with hundreds polyps. Now all gone! Also, discovered why my bicolor torch and white hammer are always closed up as well. Yup! the "filefish". Beside that, every else doing well. My friend also sent over a colony of superman and orange mushrooms. IMG_0359 by Chuck, on Flickr Anemone tank was also been cleared out a bit (sold 7 rainbow anemones) IMG_0356 by Chuck, on Flickr Making room for this. It's still small so it's will stay in the frag tank until it's big enough to house with the big cousins. IMG_0360 by Chuck, on Flickr
  5. Looks great! That's a long video , has to use the fast forward slider.
  6. would be ok, if you're trying to introduce it. if you intended to keep it in a breeder box long term, then it's not really fair to the fish.
  7. Sounds like both has turned into females. Will fight until one died. I would recommend against trying to pair them again. If you have lighting in the sump, it can be kept in there indefinitely (but not ideal) provided you feed it regularly.
  8. Welcome! very nice nano tank. Where in SS? I used to lived by Four Corners back in the 80's and 90's. So much has changed in Silver Spring esp. downtown.
  9. IMO, the amount of salt you use is probably not going to do much to the septic. typical septic is about 1,500 gallons capacity so the salt you pour into it is pretty much negligible. I change about 50 gallons/month and usually dump into the lawn. it's much easier for me to dump into the lawn than into the drain as mine tank is in the basement. The 50 gallons doesn't do anything to my lawn. When I moved here, I had a similar concern. let me see i I can locate the thread. LOL: it's in my build thread. down toward the middle of the page.
  10. There are tons of Koi's clubs. ZNA Potomac is a local club. They usually held koi's shows. https://www.gardenpondforum.com/ https://www.koiphen.com/forums/
  11. Tanks looking awesome! To me, corals are very unpredictable. They can't go anytime and in any water parameters condition. I loss one or two colonies every now and then for no apparent reason. I learned and accepted that it's a part of this hobby.
  12. lol! when mine went into the overflow, I used a small and a larger net and net the fish out.
  13. 1+ what Jon said. A quality cutter is a must. Also, Do a single pass cut, if you try multiple pass it will messed up. just a though! Lowes cut glass that purchased through them. Pretty cheap, But they are the thin ones. I believe they are the same thickness as the 10 gallons aquarium. You could get those instead if you’re going to use the glass from old 10 gallon tank.
  14. I see! I've seen tank divider with thinner acrylic. Not sure how well thin acrylic work for sump baffles. perhaps looking into pvc sheet or a used and cheap acrylic aquarium that you can cut out and repurposed the panels.
  15. hd or lowes has 1/4" acrylic sheet. A bit pricey though.
  16. Thanks bro! now onto a new project!!!
  17. Well, fish room and basement is 98% done. Just need to DIY 3 large doors to keep the kids out of those restrictive areas. IMG_0182 by Chuck, on Flickr
  18. Fire clownfish finally evicted from the tank. IMG_0186 by Chuck, on Flickr Family reunion . Hopefully she still remember him. IMG_0189 by Chuck, on Flickr
  19. okay! back down to one problem . Managed to catch the nem when it moved to the bare bottom glass. Now it's in the trap. Hopefully this will entice the clownfish to come inside the trap. IMG_0181 by Chuck, on Flickr
  20. This colony starting to have an unusually growth pattern and coloration. IMG_0103 by Chuck, on Flickr
  21. ugh! just added another to do problem. Has been trying to catch the fireclown fish for quite a while. Caught his mate Tomato clown with hook and bait last month. Has tried trap, hook, night time and even use netting to block part of the tank and try to net it. All failed. So, I had this new idea a few day ago and drop in an anemone on it's own rock in the middle of open space to host it and perhaps catch it while he's hidden inside the anemone. Well, a few days later it hosted the clownfish but also moved into the main rock structure. now it's going to be a pain to try to get it out let alone catching the clownfish. hmm! maybe making a miniature spear fishing next IMG_0143 by Chuck, on Flickr IMG_0142 by Chuck, on Flickr
