  1. haha! "the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence" I wish I could get some of the coral to grow faster like yours. About 1/4 of mine coral in my tank grow very well, but the one that I like to grow a bit faster doesn't budge.
  2. I have yet has issue with nem hosting any of my clownfish. Just give them time. Tank raised juvenile clownfish tend to take longer to find its host. Beside, BTA are not natural host for ocellaris clownfish. My last snowflake clownfish (was 3/4" juvenile) took a while, I think over 3 months to be hosted by my nems.
  3. You've seen my tank! similar length as yours. I have 23 or so in mine. The fish listed should be okay. 4 big fish and the rest of the fish on your list are small and will remain small. You might have issue with adding tangs as established purple tang is very territorial.
  4. Thank you! Trying to add more colors such as green, purple monti and blue acros but for some reason they don't survive.
  5. Anemone tank under blue light
  6. I'd go with the small pellets.
  7. Looking good. Is that the Rainbow nem you got from me? BTW how are the QT fish?
  8. This thing is getting quite interesting! here is the latest top down photo. It appears to have formed a mouth in the center and some yellow specks randomly. At first look, it's almost like a mushroom. But, it's hard and outer rim is soft. Unkown coral by t@#$%c, on Flickr
  9. Eheim is good, but I had bad luck with them. Both died. I have been using petco's feeder and works well for me in the past 3 years. As mention above, pellets is best. make sure you setup and monitor it for at least a few days before the vacation and use a feeding ring to prevent food from going into the overflow.
  10. It's very easy to drill tank. But if you never done one, I would highly recommend that you get a used 10 gallons tank to practice before you attempt to drill the ATO reservoir. ALso, make sure it's not tempered glass.
  11. Personally, they (well known brand) are all the same/similar. There are some that is a pain to tune but works very well once tuned. It's come down to how much money you want to spent. I have an old ASM G5 and I love it. I replaced both pumps with mag drive pumps (a little loud, but can be replace with any pump you want to use). empty the collector every 2-3 weeks and fertilize my herb garden with it.
  12. hmm! did you see the soft part around the rim of the frag in my video? I have never seen that in sps coral.
  13. The frag has double in size but still unable to figure out what it is. Strangely, the outer rim of the frag appears to have soft tissue. See video
  14. I have a Maxspect Gyre with cracked cable near and along the motor. I notice it when I took the unit out for cleaning. I submitted a ticket with Coral Vue and got a new motor within a few days (4 days) of the ticket. Luckily, I always have backup pumps. While it's a pain to have the pump out of service for a few days, the overall experience with customer service was great!
  15. I am very optimistic that the fish will survive that many days shipping, especially in the heat of the summer. Nonetheless, I'd just prepare to receive it in case the fish survive and let them out in QT/observation As soon as you rx it. no point in doing acclimation.
  16. I had one years ago. I recalled that the gills and open mouth appears as if it was breathing heavy.
  17. Glad you're enjoy it. I was wearing flip-flop (lol) and slipped when trying to cross to the island. Went under but managed to kept my iphone above water. Has that on video as well
  18. Yeah! Tons of chaeto washed up on the beach that hotel maintenance rake them off the beach each morning and disposed them.
  19. I captured a few sea creatures at the beach in Puerto Plata over the weekend. Most surprised was an anemone @ 4:20
  20. Sorry Ron, That acro looks like the teal acro (no name) I got from Min (Minaimee) a long while back.
  21. Wow Ron! Very nicely grown. Have better pics? I’ll check my coral log when I am back in town.
  22. Wow got pretty big. If it's hosting the clownfish, IMO, it's good. Standard rose bubble tip.
  23. Sounds awesome! Following your journey. Is your house the one being build on River rd near the Potomac Farmers market?
  24. unless it's leaking. I don't see any reason to replace them.
