  1. The Longnose Butterflyfish finally eats flakes.
  2. fortunately for me I don't have clams and my corals aren't high end.
  3. Ever since I loss my copperband, I have always wanted to get another butterfly. It”s no copperband butterfly but satisfying ?.
  4. 40-50% relative humidity is most comfortable. You might need to play with the settings to see how it’s keeping up with maintaining the 40-50% in your home. I am on the third dehumidifier. They died after 1-2 seasons. My tanks are in the basement. I have one exhaust fan vented on the inside the fish room as well as one outside the fish room but the humidity level is still way high during the warmer months. Dehumidifier works best but it usually runs 24/7 during the warmer months.
  5. that’s great Ron. Glad to hear it’s moving along smoothly.
  6. Hope everything get back on track.
  7. Tank redo is now completed to my satisfaction. Not a whole lot of coral breakage as I first anticipated. Pretty much able to sold most of the frags from the minor breakage. here is the updated videos I just uploaded.
  8. nah! something will eventually grow to cover the height. Hopefully desirable one and not the heliopora .
  9. Sounds normal! Just another phase of cycling process.
  10. It’s about 90% of what I wanted to accomplish. Got most my my corals back in place and trimmed off some over grown colonies. Fish seem to enjoy extra swimming space. Got the algae scraped for nice clean photos ?
  11. Thanks Eric, it's one of the risk of running bare bottom. yeah! it skipped a beat, but one the dark side of the brain, it's said new tank
  12. Lights just came on moment ago. Tank looks so empty
  13. last night I went full speed on the tank and pulled out 2 massive rocks with heliopora on them. after pulled them out, i was letting the tank settled and suddenly heard a bang! one of the large sized rock fell, my heart sank as I wasn't sure whether it cracked the bottom of the tank. quickly pull the rock and check but detritus was covered the bottom. brushed of the detritus and ahh!!! omg...no crack :0) Massive rock with heliopora
  14. Since the heliopora has been growing out of control and suffocating corals, I have been thinking about doing an upgrade and get rid of the heliopora all together. So I have sold off some of my euphylia colonies in prep for the upgrade. My original plan was to get two 5 footer tanks to put in place of my 210 and 100 nems tank. After many back and forth thought, I decided not to proceed with the upgrade since it going to take a lot of time and hard labor. My new plan is to attack the heliopora issues one section at a time. I had some spare time tonight and dive right in. I removed some colonies into my sump and attack the heliopora. Pull some rocks along with it and trimmed as much as I could. Got a basket full of heliopora just from one section of the tank. Looking promising this far. Will have to move to the next section when I get a chance. Will update my progress. Thanks for reading ?.
  15. Congrats Ron on the new dream build. Looking forward to see it filled up.
  16. On one of my previous tank, I used a piece of old aquarium glass TOP and silicone it to cover the holes. Alternatively, you can go to Lowes, have them cut you 3-4 pieces of thin glass and sandwich them together. edit: https://www.petsmart.com/fish/heating-and-lighting/hoods-and-glass-canopies/top-fin-hinged-aquarium-glass-top-5230425.html?gclsrc=aw.ds&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIuKnXwoWD9wIVgYrICh1tEweUEAQYBCABEgJs-vD_BwE Get something like this and pull the glass out and use it as it or cut it to size.
