  1. Beautiful tanks as always. Thanks for sharing! Merry Christmas and happy New year to you too!
  2. Were you able to get it separate? I had that same problem years ago with the same magnet. I can't remember how I got it out. I think I clamped on one side onto the table or kitchen counter and twist it to the side.
  3. I have seen someone with a 55G (4 feet) sat on a 3 feet stand. but that just a disaster waiting to happen. Could you build a well support platform that stick out 4-6" and place the tank on that instead?
  4. yes! it will reduce evaporation. You will need to wipe the glass canopy often.
  5. I didn’t recall seeing it in his post about his sand. Maybe I missed it. Since he confirmed that his sand magnetized, then it might no be a waste of time to do all that work.
  6. Have you verify that you sand is magnetized? I did a quick search and seem to indicated that there is only one type of black sand that is partially magnetic. So it might not be the source of your problem and you will be back to square one. Just my opinion.
  7. Thanks! yeah, the female died. They lived happily together for a short 4 years.
  8. It's going to look awesome once you put everything together!
  9. Had an extremely rough past month. I ALMOST made an unthinkable decision to tear down the tank and leave the hobby. After seeking help and took a 2 weeks vacation at home, I am feeling much better and continues to get back on track. So glad I didn't went through with it Purple tang has settling in very well Purple tang and anemones by t@#$%c, on Flickr Purple tang and anemones by t@#$%c, on Flickr My GSP polyps has been shorten for some reason and not fully extend like they used too. 10. Day 4 of the new addition. All the tangs are almost in harmony and eating each other waste Once in a while the blue and yellow tangs would keep the new guy in check I suppose they are only trying to reassure that their pecking order.
  11. from my experience, they will relentlessly go after new addition that are smaller and similar shape. Once its pass the aggression, usually a few days, it will mind its own business. They are hard to catch, try using the bottle trap.
  12. Yes, they are awesome fish. Got my foxface a while back from another member that breakdown his tank. It’s the biggest one in my tank so very hard to miss .
  13. Got a new resident for the tank. I was very worry of the yellow tang when I introduced the new smaller purple tang last night. I know the yellow tang will be super aggressive toward the new tang. As suspected, it went nut but not attacking. I shut off all the lights to let the new fish adjust to its new home. Today, the tank is a bit calmer and the yellow tang also much less aggressive toward the new resident. Surprisingly, the one fish that I never thought would have any aggression is the hippo tang. It's has always been a good tank mate. Today, it's attacked the new fish during feeding and occasionally chase the new fish. The most noticeable fish is the yellow damsel. Constantly, harassing the new fish. Might have to sump it if it continue to harass the tang!
  14. If you are using a handheld TDS tester. Make sure you collect test rodi water directly from the rodi hose and use a brand new cup. Otherwise your reading will be higher than it should be. My reading directly from the ro reservoir always read 5-10ppm. But reading in a new cup that taking directly from the rodi reads 0.
  15. I am certain that I have seen these in the for sale section several months back.
  16. Hi all, I picked up some frags from "reef addict" (in Montgomery Village) when he sold his system. He doesn't recall the names of these frags. Hope to get them ID or the original owners recognize them and chime in. Thanks 1) (slimball or the thing? or something else?) Frags need ID by t@#$%c, on Flickr 2)??? 17. The one you see in the latest video in the center is a flame tip. The one you got from me is a rainbow, it's a clone of one of the other anemones in the back of the tank. Anemone will look different from tank to tank as well as different lighting. growing and healthy is a good sign. Hopefully it doesn't move. I loss a few to powerheads when they released from the rock trying to move.
  18. Glad you enjoy them. Thanks your tank is new. You'll eventually get there. There will be much more variety of algae than just brown algae LOL
  19. haha! "the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence" I wish I could get some of the coral to grow faster like yours. About 1/4 of mine coral in my tank grow very well, but the one that I like to grow a bit faster doesn't budge.
  20. I have yet has issue with nem hosting any of my clownfish. Just give them time. Tank raised juvenile clownfish tend to take longer to find its host. Beside, BTA are not natural host for ocellaris clownfish. My last snowflake clownfish (was 3/4" juvenile) took a while, I think over 3 months to be hosted by my nems.
  21. You've seen my tank! similar length as yours. I have 23 or so in mine. The fish listed should be okay. 4 big fish and the rest of the fish on your list are small and will remain small. You might have issue with adding tangs as established purple tang is very territorial.
