  1. This velvet damsel hid behind and under my rocks. He shifts sand and made underground caves. Every time I pushes the sand back to cover those caves, he dug them out again and again. I tried several nights to look for him, but he hid somewhere under the rocks. I am going try the bottle fish traps to see if I can catch. I really don't to hurt the little guy with hooks as suggested above. After all, I am the one who put him in there.
  2. I have a similar problem. Trying to catch a velvet damsel (3+ inches) in a 125G reef mix. I am sure most rookie reefer made this same mistake on this fish. I got it on a packet deal with a blood shrimp. I did check him out for reef compatibility. all online fish store classified it as a reef-safe. anyway, finally caught him rearranging my smaller polyps/corals on rocks (some 4-5 times it size). That when I realized the reason why some of my corals died suddenly for no appearance reasons. So he got to go! to the refugium. He is definitely a smart fish. Will eats chopped shrimp off my hand but as soon as he see the net, he's gone. Please update on bottle trap. I like to give it try it if it works.<br class="Apple-interchange-newline">
  3. I have not physically seen a mp40. But I think the dry side contains some kind of coil or magnetic driver for the pump! Saltwater will eats electronic parts in time. As an electrical/electronic engineer and also used to be a cellular and pager repair technician, a proper way is to take it apart and dry it with electronic board cleaner spray. But I would NOT recommend you taking it apart. So, If you have a Computer dust cleaner spray available, spray it with the cleaner and let it dry for a couple of days. If not, use a hair dryer, set it to COOL and try to dry it out and then let it sit a few day to completely dry. Also, try the rice method (I never done it before) but maybe the rice will absorbs the moisture. Never hurt to try. Most important, when you are ready to plug it in, make sure you plug it into a GFCI outlet just in case there still some water left in the unit. Good Luck and give us a update. Update: Oh! after searching the Internet, I found some pics of the internal dry side for the mp40. It's a bunch of coils. So I think you should be fine after it dry out.
  4. Thank you all. Feel welcome already. I just updated my info.
  5. Hi All, My name is Chuck. Just recently joined. Was a member @ reef central and didn't know we had one in the DC area. dud!! I have been into freshwater for about 2+ decades. Last year, I decided to get into saltwater. I converted one of my tank into a FOWLR and some how got hooked into reef! I have a 125G mixed reef. started about 6-7 months ago. Uses external overflow box into a 70G self made refugium. Well! Hope to get advice and experience from all of the fellow reefers here!
  6. Wow! big different in less than a year!
  7. Thanks Inna, They are doing just fine. Thanks for Sinularia and the frog spawn. I attached a couple photos. Come on fellow reefers, make some room in your tank and get the rest of the live stock off her crippled tank! Thanks
  8. Inna, sorry to see what happening with you aquarium. I was just over your house a few days ago for the mushrooms and every seem okay. Can't believe it took a turn that quick. I'll make some room in the tank for the pink pulsing sinularia. I'll send you as email for the time. Thanks, Chuck
