  1. I was never a cat person, but now ended up with 4. They were supposedly intended as barn/shed cats to control field mice from my property, but now house cats and 8 meals/day + clean up nightly chores. Can't win with the wife and kids. . But they are cute! Thanks
  2. had to show this one This boy is hilarious. He'd fall asleep anywhere. he was playing with the chair's legs and all the suddenly, knocked out!
  3. got a bit stressed from work today, so want down stair to view my tanks and decided to make a few video of the clownfish pairs. The one of bullet hole grew pretty fast. almost twice the other. I guessed it's a she now.
  4. it's normal behavior. it's sun bathing just like we do
  5. ugh! that didn't work. it recovering and coloring backup. I am going to try scrapping it with a spoon or butter knife to get deeper into the top layer of the coral.
  6. Bryan, are you using the pvc pipe as drain or this going onto a pump (pressure)? i usually cut it with a oscillating saw and trimmed the end. Just eye ball it, not perfectly straight but pretty good clean cut I use pvc glue if the pipe is used on the pump side. pipe and use silicone on the drain side.
  7. I don’t use anything on the thread. For bulkheads, I put a small beads of silicone on the inside of the tank for added security. Other than that, hand tight threaded pvc and 1/4”+ with a wrench. Here is the info link to pvc fittings. https://www.lascofittings.com/threads
  8. You should not use plumping tape (teflon) on pvc thread. It can stress the pvc and cause leak and possibly crack. Teflon tape designed for metal fitting.
  9. tested out Dave's suggestion last night. Appears to be working. However, might have to do it a few more times to make sue it doesn't grow back. will have to buy a couple of "firm" type toothbrushes.
  10. wow! 4 weeks is pretty long time to be away from a tank, esp. a nano. I usually have auto feeder and large ato reservoir with enough water for 2 weeks. but I have a large system (450 gallons). IMO, your best option would be getting a maintenance company. I'd not ask my friend to take care of my tank for that long. you will likely end up losing a friend Good luck!.
  11. Thanks, I'll give it a try when I get a chance. Spring is around the corner and I have tons of want to do projects.
  12. Thanks guys! it’s pretty large 10-12” across just that section. There are ton more in other areas. It’s going to be a whole lot of epoxy?. I’ll try razor blade and scrap some off first and nip out with bone cutter and then epoxy. It’s going to be a pain to get to it as I am right-handed and the darn area only accessible from the left side.
  13. I never thought of ever having to kill coral in my tank but the heliopora got super invasive and starting to take over my tank. I can manually cut off the corals and prevent for spreading to other. However, this one is a bit tricky. anyone has ideas on how to kill part of the heliopora that spreading into the sunset monti without having to remove the rock and nip them off?
  14. Some coral just doesn’t grow in one tank but will grow like weed in another tank. I have a few frags of sps that don’t grow at all for many many years.
  15. 4 months later: grow super slow and strange. Still have no idea what it is. Hopefully it survive and won’t died like many other acros that I had.
  16. Bone cutter works just fine. Nip it off by the branch and avoid cutting too close to the head. Alternatively if you can remove the whole colony, dremel can do the job too.
  17. BW doing good so far. Turned out the rainbow bta next to it got stressed out and split into 2. So IMO the intro of the BW does have something to do with it. The BTA are massive this morning
