  1. thanks all. i'll grow it out and see.
  2. Thanks That's was my first thought but the lines on the corallite are too closed and fine. leptoseris lines are far apart and easily be seen. IDK I also suspect that it could be either pavona or Psammocora (I have both in my tank but seem a bit different). Hopefully can get positive ID. If not will have to see if/once it grow out.
  3. Found this between 2 clove frag. I trimmed it out and it seem to be growing. any idea what it is? thanks SPS for sure. Unknown frag by t@#$%c, on Flickr
  4. my # is a bit higher than 30% 33% to be exact The last 3 coral frags I purchased were yours. Doing great for several months and then 2 of 3 died for no reason. I have had these type of corals before (purple slimmer and cali and/or oregon tort) and never had any luck with them, I figured I get lucky with yours, but guessed not. Usually, I tried 3 or 4 time and if no go then give up and on my do not buy list . (milli, red dragon, purple monti, green monti, superman monti, gold torch/hammer just name a few). GSP and Xenia were on my no buy too but recently got some and seem to be doing quite well (hope doesn't jink for saying it). 5. BRS have them for $4 free shipping. or I have an extra one you can have. PU in Darnestown.
  6. I doubt not running the return caused fish death. Something got into you water. Get a poly filter and put into the tank to see if any contaminants in your tank. Also, check your heater!
  7. I am guessing that it's probably not related to reefing! These day, they used all sort of names for illegal stuffs.
  8. Get some gel filters and use the orange filter and place it over you camera lens to filter out the blue light. It should improve your photo. Something like this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Gel-Filter-Flash-Diffuser-soft-box-12-Sets-of-Colorful-Studio-Lighting-Flash-Gxn/222914227461?hash=item33e6b92d05:g:8xAAAOSwU2VZn4Lu
  9. Wow! insane indeed. Congratulation on the new house. On the good note: Water=Wealth according to Feng shui
  10. Look like you got some nice live stocks. The photos are so blue so it's hard to see those nice stuffs you have in there.
  11. That's normal. It's should goes from neck all the way to the top of the collection cup.
  12. Orchid dottyback update. It's doing very well and come out a lot more in the open as the 6-line no longer bother it.
  13. I owned many skimmer brands (IO , WON, RO, AVAST, Aqua C, ASM, eshopp, ATI...) over the years of reefing and found that the majority of them are pretty much similar with respect to the venturi types operation. I found that it's really come down to the pump. A good and reliable pump will improve the skimmer performance. I think the RO and Aqua Maxx that you have had are pretty good skimmers and should be pretty easy to dial in. Sometime it's just need a tiny tune to get it to where you want. Also, to ME, just because some post a pic of a nasty dark skimmate, it does not mean that individual have the same result the next. I found my skimmates varies each time I clean my skimmer collection cup. Sometime it little wet than other as there are time I feed more and sometime I feed my fish less. I believed all you need is just tune it a little and let it sit for a few days to see the results. GL
  14. Look more closer to bta than mojano. Personally, i would keep it to see if it grow. Maybe in a separate tank or make comtaimer inside a tank.
  15. Looks like a bta. Have pic of it’s foot?
  16. I used the dual membranes in series with a single 4:1 restrictor for many years and very happy with the result. Here is the BRS investigate video comparing the single 75GPD vs dual in parallel and dual in series. Would have love to see the result of a SINGLE 150 membrane in the comparison.
  17. add a booster pump and upgrade your rodi unit to a 150 GPD or more.
  18. Found another via google. If no screws, turn volute anti clockwise to open.
  19. I don't have one but searched the dc3000 manual and found this on page 10. There supposed to be 4 screws. http://www.aquariumspecialty.com/media/wysiwyg/New-Waveline-DC-Pump-Manual.pdf
  20. After I loss the female 6-line wrasse. I've decided to find a replacement 6-line for the widower wrasse. However, I stumbled on an orchid dottyback @ petco and after a few weeks of observing it, I decided to give her a home. She has been hidding for over a week after released into the tank and finally come out to play. Couldn't get a good video of the true color, but it will do for now.
  21. IMO, You don't really need a skimmer or sump for for 45 at the moment. Just keep up with the water change. Concentrate on the new tank, drill it and spent $ and time to get the proper equipment for new tank.
  22. It's slightly more $ with the new additives. I supposed Matt was referring to the 5 gallons pricing that no longer offer with the new additives.
  23. From what I read, they changed from food grade to pharm grade on the additives, thus more expensive. You can stock up the old BRS additives right now as they are selling as clearance. I used drfostersmith for my 2 parts and mag. pretty comparable to the old BRS additives.
  24. Saw it the other day. Great job on the tank.
  25. Congrats! love the open floor. Why not take the opportunity to upgrade instead of moving the tanks?
