  1. My tomato clownfish just laid another batch of eggs. This time they are blue/purple? was a different color (browish) last time. pretty interesting as to why the color changed.
  2. yeah! I think you should exchange them for 2 rw-8 instead. rw-4 is not that strong and they will reduced power once algae start to grow on them. get the one with pp8 which has stronger magnet.
  3. Thanks Issac, As I mentioned in earlier post. I am not 100% certain, but the symptoms are relatively similar to what I read online. With so many fatality within a short period of time, it's has to be it. I read that natural immunity treatment is not the best but possible and that if the fish are not stressed, their immune system will eventually take care of the infection.
  4. Yes, they are pressure treated. Are we not suppose to use pressure treated? PS. I have also painted it with dry-lok
  5. wow! sorry to hear! It's sux, but I am glad to see you re-bounce. I'd have call it quit if I loss all. I have been very careful over the past few years never to add new fish from suppliers and only get fish from hobbyist that I am sure to have been in their system for a while. This was just one unfortunate accident. On the other hand, it was a wake up call and lesson learned experience. I'll have an observation holding tank or maybe a QT set up should I obtain new fish in the future.
  6. thanks bud! I'll just take it easy until confidence that it's all gone and restock down the line with some hardy damsels
  7. It's depending on your schedule. You want to be able to see your fish tank more when you're home. I have mine on for 10 hours during the day since I am @ home all the time. I think most people set their lights on for 6-10 hours cycle. I am not a big fan of all blue tank, so my blues are on the same time as the whites. Again, it is really up to you and your taste and preferences. If you have a LEDs and controller you can even have your light simulate the natural lighting cycle.
  8. Thanks Eric, I have too many fish in my system to get them into a HT. Also, I don't want to stress them out even more by trying to catch them. I believed that they are immune and should do fine if I don't put any new fish anytime soon. I HOPE!
  9. Thanks Marcos, I am not 100% certain, but symptoms is very similar to what I read online. Most of the fish that died very quickly, look healthy one day and gone within half a day to a day after I notice spots on them. They died one after another as if they move from one fish to another after the fish died. the two clownfish are the one that seem to put up longer fight 3-5 days. The last fish that was infected was the female tomato clownfish but then within 3-4 days, she back to normal and the rest of the fish seem okay thereafter. Since then (3 weeks), no other sign of disease on any of the fish. I have done more frequent water changes to keep the pristine. hopefully will not re-infected again. Thank you for your kind offer to help out.
  10. Well, I made a critical error and ended up losing about 1/4 of my fish. to marine velvet. about 6 weeks ago, I added a healthy tiny fish that was in my friend system for more than 6 months, but totally forgot that the fish was in contact with a newly added fish. Anyway, I was quite down and almost call it quit. The remaining fish are doing well for almost 3 weeks now. It appears like they are immune to it now. I GUESSED! I hope. Only time will tell.
  11. Dang! you guys are sharp he's sure fooled me for the last hour and finally came out of the sand.
  12. Saw this creature today sticking out of my substrate. It's appeared to be grazing on sand/algae. I searched online and closet one I found is peanut worm. however, this thing has a bigger and rounder head than peanut worm. Any idea what this is?
  13. I would go with glass instead of acrylic and use silicone.
  14. This is what BRS said under Q&A. Why do the Kalk/Calcium reactor instructions show using so much less Magnesium Sulfate than the two part mixing instructions? Question by: Shad Malone on Jan 13, 2016 5:17:00 PM Great question! When using Kalk or Calcium reactor the sulfate levels and chloride levels tend to vary from the amount present in 2 part. This is a reason with Kalk or Calcium reactors you will use a 7 cups Magnesium chloride and 1 cup Magnesium sulfate in the gallon of solution. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions! Answer by: Connor (Admin) on Jan 13, 2016 6:42:00 PM
  15. Impressive growth.
  16. I hatched more than 4 decades ago nah! I don't have time to rear clownfish.
  17. Love the wood paneling on the stand
  18. haha! more like soap opera.
  19. Finally, after several years my ORA tomato clownfish laid her first batch right underneath my frogspawn branch. Her mate is a Fire clown. There are lots of drama between them for quite a while. Her original mate was another ORA tomato. But a few years ago, the Fire clown decided to woo her and harassed the smaller male tomato. Then a few month ago, he had successfully driven the male tomato to end his lonely life and jump out of the tank. Now they are making babies together.
  20. For Saltwater use, I'd run it without any media.
  21. Try tilting it at an angle until it pump. Then very slowly straighten it back to normal position.
  22. Is it hosting the clownfish? Clownfish maybe too rough on it and caused it to remain closed. If the clownfish are harassing it, try to isolate it from the clownfish until it healthy again. Normally, I don't feed my nems. they usually get food from the clownfish or whatever flow around. You can try given a small piece of shrimp ever 3 to 4 days to see if it improve.
