A trio of leopards, pair of Scott's wrasses and a choat wrasse. I look forward to seeing what else you will have in your tank.

I wouldn't worry too much about the choat. She seems healthy and already eating in her two day old environment. It's a great start.

Marco,

I heard the Petco dollar sale starts on Thursday.

score. thanks for the heads up, tony. i'll plan accordingly.

i had asked about them a bit earlier and got some good suggestions. did some more research and found my new solution for lighting in the fish room.

i had a 2x54w t5 fixture and the bulbs and the look were just not a pleasant experience. i went off in search of a brighter, cleaner looking setup that would be less of a hassle. i found an LED panel light i liked from ledwholesalers in california. after speaking to their customer support and getting great feedback from other buyers, i closed the deal on a 48x12" LED panel light.

i took that annoying t5 unit out of there and installed my super slim and sexy LED panel light. results are fantastic - incredibly bright, very unobtrusive, controllable by the apex, and no maintenance.

Wicked cool.  How many LEDs are there?

i dont know. likely quite a few SMD3014 along the perimeter with the plate acting as a diffuser to blend it all together into a smooth soft light. i'm really happy with it especially for as affordable as it was.

No cords? Is it magic?

you can see the power cord in the first photo in the corner of the fixture. that goes to a meanwell driver that is connected to power. i made a notch in the ceiling and just hid the driver on top of the drywall with the fixture over the hole to keep it out of sight....magical!

I knew you were David Blaine.

haha, i get that a lot ;)

This is a great build thread

thanks for following along and your comments!

merry christmas everyone!

Marco- finally caught up on reading your thread. Great job on documenting this build. Looks like everything is coming together nicely.

what meanwell driver does that panel light connect to?  Do you have specs like current at full power and voltage drop?

I am tearing out a bunch of shoplights that the previous terrible owner of my house installed in the finished part of the basement above the drop ceiling and these look really nice.  I had planned to install LED recessed lights, but the spread of the ones you found is nicer.

thank you, sir - i'm trying to keep the journal better updated, too!

i didn't grab any photos. i just read in a couple reviews i think it was but don't remember the spes or model. you can always call their customer service and maybe they could provide details on whatever fixture(s) you end up most interested in hopefully.

the choati is still alive! eating better but still not eating blackworms with any interest really. goes through brine, mysis, squid, etc very enthusiastically. still not staying awake beyond 4 hours but hopefully that'll increase more in the next weeks.

that's a beautiful fish you got there. Amazing that things are going so well with it, keep up the good work, and keep posting vids with that sweet smooth gi-tar.
