Coral Hind January 21, 2013 January 21, 2013 Maybe this will help: http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/how-to-change-white-balance-settings-on-a-nikon-d5.html If you need to create new WB presets read here: http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/how-to-create-white-balance-presets-on-a-nikon-d51.html Running the camera in "P" mode will probably be best for tank pictures as it removes a good bit of the auto settings.
Marc Weaver January 21, 2013 January 21, 2013 Shoot in RAW format, then you don't have to worry about white balance. Lightroom can read RAW files directly and you can play around with color tints and while balance and convert the finished pictures to JPG, but it's 80 bucks. RawTherapee is a free RAW image editor, but I haven't tried it.
zygote2k January 26, 2013 January 26, 2013 try whatever mode on your camera that matches the colors as close as possible. Vivid mode is what I like to use on my point and shoot. Vivid plus forced flash tends to create the most identical results for me. Turning off all water movement is key too.
epleeds August 28, 2013 Author August 28, 2013 I know its been a long time since I updated, but I can't seem to take any decent pictures. If there is anyone local that wants to give it a shot, let me know. Here is an Iphone pic as of today.
epleeds August 28, 2013 Author August 28, 2013 looking good. Still running the t5s? Yup. Gonna stick with them. My tank is consistently running at 80 degrees due to too many windows near my tank and I don't want a chiller. I am ordering new bulbs to change up the look. Hopefully it will be to my liking.
smallreef August 28, 2013 August 28, 2013 Very pretty! You don't want to come to the dark side of LED'S? Lol

epleeds March 27, 2014 Author March 27, 2014 Okay. This is only 1.5 years overdue for an update. I can't take decent FTS so i thought I would try my hand at a video which actually came out pretty good except for the glare from the windows. I will try one in the evening when the sun goes down. http://youtu.be/mS-aaENif-Y
BowieReefer84 March 27, 2014 March 27, 2014 Nice video. Way better at showing depth of tank that pictures.
howaboutme March 28, 2014 March 28, 2014 Very nice! What's the portal looking thing on the top left of the tank?
epleeds March 28, 2014 Author March 28, 2014 It's called the portal. Marine depot sells them. They are pricey, but very very kool. http://shop.marinedepot.com/innovative-viewing-systems-4-inch-portal-w-scrubbing-pads-for-glass-acrylic-aquariums
DuffyGeos March 28, 2014 March 28, 2014 And to think...all my wife got me was a 4" magnify glass.....
