  2. Looks great man. I seemed to have started the 80G trend in our area ha ha. They really are great tanks with perfect dimensions.
  3. Brick and wood would have chemicals on or in them. If you don't. Want to just make a strand out of PVC/egg crate/acrylic/plexi, then you could go the ceramic tile route, but it would take a lot of them stacked up. I've even seen people use bucket lids. I'm sure others here will have more/better information for you.
  4. Jim (telegram on YouTube/Instagram) has done a lot of testing and reviews of cheap lights. Maybe watch a few of his videos and choose from his findings. He does legit spectrum and par test on the cheap lights that BRS and such won't do.
  5. I'll take the blame. Looking forward to watching this system grow and fill in.
  6. I actually had the same exact thing happen on my 80 Frag using the flipper. I made the switch to the AlgaeFree Hammerhead and it works really well. I hear the new Tunze one is pretty good too according to the BRS videos on it.
  7. Hey Santiago its Aaron. Following along and you should start a build thread on here with pictures and stuff.
  8. Hey it is Aaron from down in Stafford. Want me to come give you a hand with the zoas?
  9. As Eric @epleeds is already aware I am dealing with a tips down STN on almost all my acros as well as of recent and lost quite a few. ICP was not telling of much besides high silicate which I kind of already knew since I hadn't changed my DI Resin in a while (still a strong 0 TDS though) and surprisingly low iodine which seems to be the common thing between many of us. It is really hard to believe that could be what is wrong though. I ended up moving my acros to another stable tank and some started to recover while others kept dying off. I just accepted it as an "it is what it is'" scenario. Also had high Aluminum, but I don't pay attention much to that...could be the fabled Marine Pure bio balls in my system. Like others though some of my acros looked the best ever while others STN out of nowhere. It makes no logical sense at all!! Alk has been steady at 7.9-8.0, NO3 at 10-15 (I don't want dino's so I stay elevated in nutrients), and PO4 at .06-.08.
  10. Yep definitely long gone. I am lucky to have one of his old sumps in storage for a possible future use. They seem to be very well built. Not sure if anyone local is making PVC sumps sadly. Sent from my SM-N975U using Tapatalk
  11. Glad you got it figured out. I know everyone likes their DC controllable pumps, but this is one are that has always scared me with return pumps specifically. My mag pumps haven't failed me in many many years. I second the oil strap for this tight spot. Did you glue in the piping portion in the overflow box? If so maybe you could try and twist that while someone helps make sure the bottom doesn't move too.
  12. So I run the same RODI and I definitely run a booster pump and a BRS water saver kit. If making large amounts it's a game changer, plus hate wasting a ton of water. Last night I was able to fill a 44G Brute to about 35G in two and a half hours. As far as water temp the optimal temp is 77 degrees. That said let's face the facts that we all pretty much tap a cold water only source so getting 77 degrees isn't really going to happen. So the theory is 77 is optimal for production, but colder water, while it will reduce production rate some, makes the membranes last longer.
  13. Typhoon III from Air Water and Ice here and love it. That said many of them are all the same. Just make sure it fits your needs for your city/well water input levels. Also I would stay with one that has the standard 10 inch filters instead as they are easily found and available. The GPD membrane is up to you. How fast do you want water made and how much waste water are you willing to sacrifice? These are questions that help determine what you want. I personally did a water saver kit so I am at a 200GPD setup and added a Booster pump to get 70-90psi. I have about a 1 to 1 ratio for waste and good now.
  14. Jim (telegram on youtube/instagram) did a test on these lights if memory serves. You should check it out. Sent from my SM-N975U using Tapatalk
  15. Ive been shopping with them and trading with them for a few years now. They have great corals and great protocols in place for pest control. Most of all they like to have fun and do random prizes, events, and games. If you have gotten a rubber duck or a few of them you would understand as they equate to prize drawings or games with them. James and Karinn are awesome honest people and glad to have them in the area.
  16. Welcome to the group. Its good to have another person who is down by me as you will notice the majority of the group is 30 minutes or more north of Fredericksburg. That said I am over in Stafford and would be more than willing to give you a hand if you need anything as I help 2 others in Fredericksburg currently.

  18. RODI units as a whole waste a ton of water sadly. You seem to already know your issues of needing a booster pump and even adding a second membrane. I have both and it has drastically reduced my waste water. I know many here actually reuse their waste water so maybe that is an option to feel like less water has been wasted.
  19. Definitely in line for a Male/Female pair for my 25 lagoon.
  20. What is everyone's thought on getting a thread/sticky for people who have generators, battery backup air pumps, etc that they are willing to let fellow reefers use in emergency situations? I know I have a whole home generator and have a spare portable generator I could lend to people in need during power outages. That said I am down in Stafford which will be a turn off for some, but I have it for use. I know generators are high dollar items, but would hate for someone to lose their reef for a long power outage.
  21. Im sure this will fill up in no time. Bet the wife would have liked a much bigger 7.5ft 200+ gallon tank even more
  22. Best bet is to contact Roger Vitko at Tunze USA. Sent from my SM-N975U using Tapatalk
  23. This is simply amazing. This fish has been on my bucket list for a while now and I am in the process of redoing my entire 25 lagoon for them. Now I have the possibility of getting some aquaculture ones from a local member. The amount of work and dedication to this is just out of this world. So very cool!!
  24. It looks close to my JF limelight hydnopora. Sent from my SM-N975U using Tapatalk
