  1. I don't see any benefit. Just another way of making $$$.
  2. Okay, Just to clarify. Only the 2nd pic right? the other 2 are standard button paly that are not toxic? Man, they are absolutely ugly. Not that attractive either. I always thought the more colorful ones are the one you stay away from!
  3. If you Google renter insurance aquarium, you find many reef aquatics sites that do discussed about renter insurance that covered damaged caused by renter aquarium. I personally think your landlord is stiffing you on the fees. Here is my suggestion, do a research in renter insurance and negotiate with the landlord to see if you can replace you fees with renter insurance. Would definitely not hurt to try. My cousin is a Allstate agent, if you like to talk to him.
  4. Thank you Tom for your sophisticated diagram . Yeah, looks like check valve going in port 3. Here is the video from BRS. I might order the kit from them ($25+shipping). I have some credit on ebay, I'll check to see what they have to offer.
  5. +1, Any Insurance agent here?
  6. Cool! It's shut of the water flow in your RO/DI and therefore no water flow, even if you have it connected to the faucet.
  7. Okay, this is the third time I TOTALLY forgot that I left my RODI running. Fortunately, all 3 times I coincidentally stumbling on to the RODI water reservoir and discovered it almost overflow and shut it down. I need a to get an auto shut off. I think I am getting old and forgetful. Anyway, I see that they sell RO shut off kit (auto shut off valve, float valve and check valve). I've also seen just the auto shut off valve. Is it necessary to get the whole kit or can I get away with just the auto shut off valve? Thanks
  8. Who doesn't read instruction! " If you own your own home, please do not answer the poll questions, but feel free to make comments". Forrest, perhaps your're the only paying renter fee for your aquarium!!
  9. Do you have renter insurance? I know that most apartment/rental properties nowadays required renter insurance (cost about $100 a year). I personally don't think anyone should pay pet renter fee, especially an aquarium, if you have renter insurance.
  10. I don't think they are that bad. Maybe the snails died and the hermies made a new home out of it. I have several types of hermit in my tank. Kinda funny to watch them during feeding time. Sometime they just dived or fumbled down the LR just to make a quick way down to the sand bed.
  11. WoW! That't a ripoff! They probably kept the monies(fees) for themselves.
  12. Hope everything goes well. Best Regards

  16. That's a DEEP tank! Where did you find those huge rock? 40+ lbs each? BTW great set up. Too much under the cabinet though.
  17. IMO, It's probable takes 3-5 years to break even if you changed from MH's to LED's.
  18. Looking good. I had to admit. You are sooo patient. When I started my SW tank using dried rock and sand, and after 2-3 weeks, I could not resist adding live stocks to the tank.
  19. It's "wisdom" or maybe the guy have "guts". See all the gray hairs on the guy? Maybe it's wisdom!

  24. Scared me too. Just got home last night from week vacation and found my 5 gallons ATO 5 ran out of water. Turned out that my overflow box lost siphoning (don't know why??). Got everything running again and the light started to flickered. I am thinking to myself, oh crap!! not again!! But thank goodness no power lost. This morning I checked my tank and seem to have lost a yellow tang during my vacation.
