  1. Lowes: Get 2 pieces of 18X24 and have them cut into 6 pieces. Should cost less the $20 total. I used the same glass for my 70 gal refugium/sump.
  2. I din't think about that. I suppose I can gather some to make my seaweed salad instead.
  3. sorry wrong thread. Mod, please move. thanks
  4. I am in Myrtle Beach right now . I see lots of red/pink seaweed washed ashore. I wondering if those can be used as food for fish or maintain in refugium?
  5. 1+ bubble algae. get rid of it!
  6. Holly cow! It's insane! You need to charge entrance fee to see your tank once it's up running.
  7. Again! Sorry to hear about it. Did you add any fish/invert to your DT recently? I have'n't had much experience with marine fish yet, but with freshwater fish. I usually treat freshwater fish with pure salt (1 lbs per 100gal water). I wonder if it works the other way around. Best of luck.
  8. 1+ I'll get used to mine after a while. It's actually work out great for me because, if I don't hear it. I know something is wrong.
  9. We picked up. Quite a lot of work for 3 men crew. Your're absolutely right on "people give big stuff away because they have no way to move it and don't have enough time to sell it". Turned out he injured his leg in a accident and also lost everything in the tank during the 4 days power outage. Equipment are decent and in good condition. off brand MH system. Anyway, can't complained when it "Free".
  10. Will see what's happen tomorrow. I am going with him and a cousin tomorrow.
  11. They are amazing to own. The only problem is that they release ink cloud if spooked. Then you have to do a complete water changes. Hopefully some "expert" reefer here can give it a home. 7 Gal is just too small for it. good luck
  12. Thanks goodness I don't use MH on my tank. Stay cool!
  13. Thanks, I think he will be giving some of those sand away as well.
  14. He asked me and a cousin to help him. If we need need more help I'll let you know. Thanks for the offer.
  15. Nope! my brother got it.
  16. Really! I've always wanted to marry a mermaid!
  17. Looks like everyone is looking into backup power after this horrific storm. I don't know if you remember a post I a asked other here as to whether I need to get a generator in Montgomery county. Since then, I have been looking into portable generators. I have pretty much narrowed down to one in particular, a Honda EU3000IS. It's quite pricey, $2K but supper quiet and reliable. My boss @home said that the only reason I am getting a generator is for the "fish". So now I have to look into alternatives to justify my reason to get one. Also, in Mont. county noise ordinance maximum is 65dB during the day and 55dB @ night. So a quiet one is a must if have to run it all night long. Anyway, I personally believed that reliability comes with a price.
  18. Well captured. I guessed you have your camera readily by that tank.
  19. That's what i was saying previously. They grow like weed for many a people, but me! I like the grassy look in the tank.
  20. A little update on the experiment on the GSP. I took another GSP colony from the sump (fully open up in sump) and place onto the DT. It's been a week now (including 2 days from the outage). only a small numbers of polyps from the colony open up. Most polyps remain closed. Oh well! I guessed I'll never able to grow GSP in my DT. here is the photo: http://www.flickr.com/photos/10002234@N07/7496712146/in/photostream
  21. my neighbor down the road paid $30K for their solar but got ~$10k tax credit back. I haven't talk to them yet to see if they have power during the outage. Because their solar run off the power grid, so it also depending upon the power company. I'll update after I talk to them.
  22. I can spare 20-25 Gal. if you willing to drive a bit! I am in Germantown. PM if needed
  23. Well, The key words are "doesn't necessarily" (means maybe be happy and may not be happy). It's 50/50. Again it's an opinion. Anyway, it's way off topic...My only concern is whether they stings each other. Thanks all.
  24. I read that from some reefers too. However, it's their personal opinion. I don't see any scientific support of such. IMO, I think they split due to natural chemistry and biological reproduction. How do you suppose "anemone" reproduce in the ocean?
