I just picked up a Sailfin Tang (at least 6 inch across). Okay, I take an extremely risk on it! No QT (don't have one) nor acclimation! . Well, picked him up along with a mid size lyretail anthias and small clown. Both the anthias and clown did not make it. I was also in a hurry to get back to my wife and kids whom I left a the mall (# 1 priority). So, with that dilemma, I had no choice but to drop the fish into the tank and hope for the best! (he seem extremely healthy). Just came back home. Now it's about 3-4 hours into, he already make himself at home and took over the whole tank. Not sure if I made a good choice with a sailfin tang as a replacement for the yellow tang I loss not to long ago. hmmm!! Anyway, here is the pic of the new fish! http://www.flickr.com/photos/10002234@N07/7811733714/in/photostream

My too. Used to have lot of bubble tips. But since they split, only see bubbles once a while. IMO, I think it is all related to the lighting. It will have more bubbles if it has sufficient light. if not enough light, they have to extend their tentacles and therefore no bubble.

looks like an awesome plan!

Toni, If you are afraid. Just bring it back to me. I'll give you your money back. If not, you can add an acrylic strip and drill 4 holes and attached it onto the area where the center brace used to be. LMK. PM me any time. Chuck -
Keep the Chromis...it's much easier to remove the the Xenia than catch those Chomis!

Toni, Best to turn the old 30G into a sump. As I mentioned, add a center brace to the tank. Although the guy who had it before me had it out no problem with it, I personally put one on for security. I saw several people removed it and add a piece of acrylic in it place. As for return, a mag 5 or 7 would be suffice. good luck -
They left everything else alone. only the pulsing xenia. I guessed they learned that it's editable to them

Check out the Pond's community! They got some really nice one. Maybe they can give you some ideas as to what you want to build. http://forums2.gardenweb.com/forums/ponds/nph-ind.cgi?type=gal

I finally discovered why every frag/colony of xenia never made it in my DT. I tried many times in the past and they all died in my DT. I have a xenia which I brought from a friend and kept in my fuge for 3+ months now. Seem to do very well in the fuge. So decided to give it another shot and move it into the DT. As soon as I dropped it into the sandbed, the chromis and yellow damsel start to take turn nipping on it. At first I thought maybe they just nipping it because it was something new, but after observing a bit it's clearly that they want to eat the darn xenia. I guessed I have a couple of xenia killer in my tank!!!

Presently, the only equipment used in the pond is (a 2000GPH waterfall pump (from harbor freight), a filter box (just bioballs), a aeration pump (for winter) and a de-icer (for winter)), a net to cover the whole pond during the FALL to prevent leaves from falling into the pond). These are the same equipment I used for the past 4 years. I pulled the pump (stored in water bucket) and filter out during late fall and put them back during early spring. Though, I did went through a couple of pricey pumps and UV system (DRSfoster...., died after 1 season). As for pond liner, I used Good Year 45Mil (pricey, but supposedly last 20+ years). I built a small reservoir on top for waterfall and plant lots of water plant (right now I have water crest, best plant so far) in it so it act as a natural filter. From experience, the first 2 years are the hardest...green algae and green water all over. But once it established, it pretty much ALMOST maintenance free. Also, External pump with built-in UV are good too, but I personally like submersible one (much quieter).

Is it DIY pond? size and budget? My pond is a little over 1000 Gallons. I did the whole nine yard by myself (digging and everything). Cost me about $2-3K. Most important: Don't got get the have miss utility come out to mark your yard and check your county for pond permit. Tip: If you going with rubber lining, use old carpet as pond underlayment if you can find some.

Welcome! Look into a used system. Much cheaper than getting a new one. A Reef Ready (RR) is much better. I wished I had...

Oh! find the answered. Biopellets need to run @ higher flow for constant tumbling. Back to to drawing board

I have a BRS GFO/CARBON reactor. I was wondering if I can eliminate the carbon media and replace it with biopellets? Will there be any issue running GFO and Biopellets together?

Mike, You should have a GFCI BBQ party!

Thanks, Already got rid of last night. ALthough, I read online some people want them...only if they grow from branch...Don't know what's the benefit of having them.

Great job! Pics would help identifying them. Here is a link from ReefCleanners with pics. I stumble upon it when I found the red bubble algae in my sump. http://www.reefcleaners.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=54&Itemid=60

Well! Just to be on the safe side. I went ahead last night and took the frag piece out and pulled all all bubble out with a tweezer. One popped (very slimmy). Cleaned out with tap water and then RODI water. Thanks all.

Okay, I just notice this red bubbles attached to my pulsing xenia. The frag has been in my fuge for many months. I heard/seen of green bubble algae! But red, huh!! It felt like a very thick rubber sack. Could it be some kind of egg? Anyway, can someone tell me what is it? http://www.flickr.com/photos/10002234@N07/7771316146/in/photostream
