  1. Carpet and floor dried up nicely but not completely bone dry. Wish I have one of those industrial shell type floor fan! Oh well, maybe invest in one for future clean-up.
  2. I think it's do able if you have a large enough aquarium system. Consider that there is no water change in the ocean. rain and river water act like a ATO water.I used to do a 10% change every 2 weeks. But ever since I built a 70G sump/refuge, I change once every 2 months. My brother's 200G FOWLR tanks haven't had any water change since he set it up 4 years ago.
  3. I wonder if there is/are some kind of device that cut off the pumps if flooded. Maybe a reversed of the ATO?
  4. Got onto some part of the carpet and probable will get salt residue after it dry out. I am running two fans full blast to get it completely dry. I have had flood in that general area before when i was doing my freshwater change. Good thing I discovered it early, otherwise all the pumps would have been damaged from running dry.
  5. me too. But I guessed I can't hide it now. I pulled everything out of the closet. Maybe just blame on the rain from last night!
  6. Guessed I am not the only one with wet sock . A shop vac is a must have in any home. Rather not use it. But if need to, t's make clean up soooo much easier.
  7. AAAH! Came down to check out my tanks after lunch and I saw wet spots in granite hallway. Ran around the corner and discovered water is shooting up like a fountain from my refugium. Shut down the power strip and assess the horrific situation. Turned out, that the return hose came loose from mag 950 pump and about 15+ gallons of saltwater sipped through the carpet and floor. here are some photos after sucking most of the water off the floor and carpet: http://www.flickr.com/photos/10002234@N07/7303280900/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/10002234@N07/7303279344/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/10002234@N07/7303277688/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/10002234@N07/7303276116/ I am kicking myself for this. I thought about water seal the refugium closet area but "rushed" into it and never sealed it. too late now! On the other hand, I supposed it can be viewed as a fortunate situation. It would have been worst if it happen during my vacation! Anyway, ran a couple of fans and opened the windows. Put a tie wrap on the hose so that it will never happen again. Hopefully, the carpet won't be too bad after it all dried up.
  8. , that's huge!
  9. has not set their status

  10. Great comment!
  11. Welcome, That's a big tank! IMO, lose the FX5 and build or buy a sump/refugium and put live rock or rubble in it instead. invest in a good protein skimmer. I have good results and experience on HOB overflow. But drilled type overflow is better. Also, don't rush into stocking yet. Take your time and do some research. best of luck. Happy reefing!
  12. looks a bit like duncan, except for the color. Thanks (cam on)
  13. Wow! very nice. What are those orange one in the first pic?
  14. Beautiful tank! hope everything okay.
  15. Thank you, I thought about carbon shaft. But hobby shop was never came across my mind. Thanks for your suggestion.
  16. Hi, Does anyone here know where to buy just the ceramic shaft for pumps. My pondmaster 950 as return pump is making noise. I pulled it out and discovered that the ceramic shaft for the impeller broke in half (still runs fine). New impeller goes for $20 online and LFS wants $40-50 for it, half the cost of a new pump. I want buy a new impeller, but I have a problem identifying which version of the pump I have. Danner pumps have 2 version (A, manufactured before 2001 & B after 2001). Any suggestion or alternative shaft? thanks
  17. Not sure about ALGAEFIX, never used those algae control chemical in any of my saltwater or freshwater. IMO, they creates more problem down the line. Just, do scheduled water changes (RO/DI water) and deduced you lighting cycle will help. Like everyone said, be "Patience".
  18. +1 on cyano. I had the same problem a while back. Left for vacation, so I use the marine 7 days vacation food (BIG MISTAKE!). Came home, sand bed turned brown and then red algae all over the sand bed. This is how I reduced the red algae in my tank: manually remove as much as u can using gravel cleaner. Do a 10% water change weekly. Cut back your lighting. Get this phosban media http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=8996, preferably run it with a phosban reactor. Good luck, be patient it will take some time to get rid of it.
  19. I am interested. Sound challenging to raise from fry! Thanks
  20. Gorgeous little tank!
  21. Caught it yet? I tried 3 days with 2 bottle traps already with no luck. Traps many fish but not the one I want to removed. hook and shrimp next!
  22. Cool! Quick answers. Thanks you all
  23. I Just notice these white bugs in my refugium. The one within the circle. Looks like some kind of slug. Are they good bug or bad? thanks http://www.flickr.com/photos/10002234@N07/7224540826/in/photostream
  24. Inna, Great to see you got all the live stock out. Chuck
