  1. aptasia without zooxanthellae are clear and if no zooxanthellae to feed them and no food being given to them they will die.
  2. the only way i would add tap water is to let it sit over night before adding it. chlorines break down over ~8- 12 hour period. better yet use carbon filtered water if you cant get an RO/DI filter.and pick up yourself a refractometer for salinity mixing salts can be bad...different companies use different methods (chemicals) of achieving the salt mix.
  3. dang it i missed it... it's been forever since we seen dr mac there.

  15. i have always had good luck with copper bands butterfly fish, of course he has a battle every so often with my yellow tang once in a while. i had tried everything except bergias and within a few weeks my aptasia is all gone... just make sure he will eat some mysid or something before you bring it home.
  16. well...one day when i had too much time on my hands :D
  17. a hospital tank is the best bet...but i would feed it a mixture of nori, flake and mysis all soaked in selcon and minced garlic(the jar that has the juice in it) this gives it a varied diet and a better chance of getting the nutrients that the other food is lacking. not saying garlic is a miracle cure but i think it helps. i have also added the minced garlic in the tank...alot of times the fish will bite it but spit it out.just dont put all that food in at once and use just a little bit of garlic. my experience has been good with this method esp. with buying fish at petco that comes standard with ich.
