So is conundrum the "hot" new additive? J/k I would take a look at magnesium too, I have seen with past members when they had a calcium problem then they had a mag problem also.

chip (flowerseller) had the same problem years ago. i think he used a metal screw rod and metal angle brackets and sealed it all up with silicone so it wouldnt rust.
big hand to Mitch Carl (hilarious) and every officer and anyone who helped with this meeting...and others as well. oakton HS is probably the better meeting place IMO since there is good separation of vendors and speakers. i picked up some of the donated LR 2 meetings ago and was hoping for more... but oh well... i have been here for a while and it was good to see some faces from years ago. the raffle donations are great and i get anxious to see whats on the table every meeting.
set up a quarantine for this lil guy who's going in... And currently making saltwater to add sand and fill her to start the rock curing and try to get a big cycle out of it.

i remember in the early days he was at almost every meeting. and when he set up his new place we took a trip to tour it. really nice setup. Thanks Dr Mac!
I wonder if it has to do with the 90* optic that comes on most causing the coral to show color on the under side of it since t5 and MH usually have some sort it reflecting device

I started with MH and vho. I loved it then went to t5 when they first came out. Then I did a combo of mh and t5. Someone have me some power compacts... I didn't care for them but they were great for softies. Now I have LED so I have to read all about them and it seems to be a personal preference if people like them or not. I still have my backup MH if I ever go back but I still can't wait to set up my big tank with the new it2080 I just got

I think for led in my experience is how you okay with the intensity settings. On my d120 I have the blue cranked all the way up and the white only at about 20%. And everything pops and I'm getting growth from all my coral critters and Condy anemone

Ok so I was partially reading that there are a lot of people switching back from LEDs to T5 or halides.... Over in reef2reef. I have tried them all and still like LEDs for various reasons.
Do people resort to "go with what you know" or stick it out and play with setting to see the outcome?
Is UV really an issue?
Do I need to supplement?
I seem to get great growth and color with LEDs.
This is the "yellow" leather I picked up at petland for the raffle. But I like the way it's growing!
I know I posted a before in another thread but this is an after.

Fwiw I don't use chemicals except maybe something to remove phosphate or kalk. But that's about it. Maybe a little vodka dosing when I remember to. I don't use ozone or uv yet. So maybe that helped expand the population through my many tank changes.
