so i picked this up today at BRK. do you guys/gals have any pics you'd like to share on how yours is set up...like wire routing and what have you done to use the web function. and it doesnt have to just be an apex but any controller will do.

make sure you have a good lid, them some smart buggers. and they can change their skin to mimic any surface so that could be the difference you were seeing.

most units have a precharge but you would have to run a vacumm on the lines as zygote2k said. as for the copper pipe, if you sweated a water pipe you can sweat an ac tube just make sure you use brazing rod and MAP gas.

pfft...i bought a harmon kardon home theater receiver just because it had a big dial for the volume. but instead of a cd player i use my laptop and media player and plug it into the receiver for the tunes. on topic: i would replace the outlet and re-wire as others have stated.

i've had a few but i finally got one that has been a good one, like lhcorals said get one to feed before you buy it. in my experience it will take out all your tube worms first but they always bounce back. mine eradicated my aptasia and fed on mysis shrimp. i sold him/her to jon lazar and he it doing a number on his aptasia from last i spoke with him. it got along well with the yellow tang after a little territory disputes, it took about a few days. have johnny or sean get you one, and look at its mouth make sure nothing looks smooshed and it is feeding with either worms or mysis. and you'll find a good one.

my black perculas name is ozzie and harriett and my yellow tank gets called dorkfish. i think if you ever watch yellows for a while you'll understand, lol. as for the rest they go un-named.

+1 even if you dont see things moving through it it still has a bacterial benefit which you cannot see. 6 months should be fine for the 1st couple inches of the bed. i had a 4" dsb in my 150 and critters only went as far down as about 1 1/2 to 2" if that much of the sand bed. further down becomes an anaerobic layer and few things in it will be visible to the naked eye. its just one of those things to set and forget, and dont stir up the bottom as it can lead to a tank crash.

over time the area will get some critters in it....it offer more surface area for good bacteria to grow. if you want to jump start the sand bed get like a cup from an aged reef to seed the new one.

i do this and have no problems, but i spin it a 1/4 of the way and line up the cut with the blade then turn it on, it that makes sense. i also have a laminate blade i throw on for plastics if i can remember to put it on.
