  1. If it were to go through my company, not really. Plumbing minimum is around $350, and the permit that your supposed to pull [city bending you over] has got to be somewhere around 50 bucks. Ridicules? Yes, but quite the norm in this area. When I moved back to the area after 20 years away, and heard you had to pull a permit to change out a stove I was shocked. CA has got to be one of the more strict states in the nation, and that's not a requirement there, however they do require a quick shut off inside the cabinet now for access to turn it off which is not required here. I figure in another 30 years they will catch up with current code out west. There are a lot of scammers in the business though. Just do your homework and check out the BBB.
  2. Never heard of them, but there is a vendor section for these types of questions in the member area, or at least there was when I was a member.
  3. Interestingly enough, I had this happen about 5 months ago, and didn't think anything about it. I figured it was more of just a killing of the other specie. I actually added a GBTA to a tank with 4 RBTA's last night. I'm hoping this is something not in the norm, as I didn't expect it was.
  4. If you can wait until Sunday, I can do it. Just PM me with details as far as address and contact info. Mark
  5. Ran across these a few months back, and was considering using one until this past weekend when all H-E-double hockey sticks broke loose on my tank. BTW, that site seems to have everything a person could want PVC wise....
  6. What are you using this pump for? Just a return, or are you adding a closed loop?
  7. They say great minds think alike. I was just going to post that. I will have two skimmers running in a few weeks.
  8. The End
  9. Blaze, when your up in two weeks I'll give you some of what I have. Everyone I have given some too claims it thrives, and it does in my system with very low nutrients.
  10. You asked so... Goldfish have been used for years to cycle fresh water tanks because they are very resilient/hardy fish. They do not need to have a bacteria balanced tank to survive and live in fish bowls with zero filtration all over the world. I'm not sure what it takes to become a "Petco aquatics specialist", but I don't think that is much above a Walmart aquatics specialist in terms of specialized training/education. I'm quite sure that Walmart sells a stresscoat/water treatment solution which is all you need, so while I think you're intentions were admirable, I think your information to the Walmart customers probably adds stress to their whole "first fish tank" buying experience. IMHO your time would have been better spent talking to the management of the store which would help ALL of their future "first time fish tank owners" if it is your intention to help save fish. :2cents:
  11. Did you start Neozeo yet? If so, what have you been dosing so far and how much?
  12. Can I write off all of my losses of fish and coral over the year? I'm thinking that would be huge! lol
  13. I've added it over at Reef Central, as I am clueless. LINK
  14. Don't worry about the nitrates with this animal. Mine are at zero all the time and my GSP's, all three of them thrive.
  15. It's gone
  16. More flow, will make it go.
  17. If you trust your LFS to keep your corals for you, do it. You stand a much better chance of survival IMHO. Welcome to the group!
  18. Icecap driving Radium bulbs. You won't regret it.
  19. +1
  20. I would agree with that unless you can fit it at the end, which I think would work better then the side as you have it now. Just a little too much wasted space in that design. :2cents:
  21. Carters aquarium closed in the last couple of months, but it was horrible. Wonder why? Fins and Feathers in downtown Charles town also closed, as the owner sold it about 5 months ago, and new owner didn't have a clue how to run a store, although I hear they plan to open it again in another spot somewhere. [i actually picked up about 80lbs of live rock for $50 from there.
