  5. I had my clowns for almost 2 years with nothing happening.......... Added a BTA and it took them almost 6 more months to find it. Then the battles began. One clown actually tore the lips off another clown and I figured I had either 2 males or two females thus the cause of fights and figured one would be a tragic statistic. Guess what. The clown with the torn off lips became the male and now the pair regularly lay eggs about every 4 to 5 weeks with clock work regularity. They are both good parents although, I think the male does the majority of the fanning, cleaning of eggs and tending of fry. I think the best solution is to be patient!! Bob
  6. Should you frag or split in the future I would be very interested in purchasing from you. This is one coral I have always wanted to try but havent because I heard how difficult they are! Bob
  7. Yes, flying TACA- We found out about an hour after my post that Dulles is completely shut down so I just had to get a couple pina coladas and go lay by the pool in the sun. Hopefully we will fly tomorrow or Monday.
  8. My friend and I are stuck in Managua Nicaragua trying to get to El Salvador for a flight to Dulles. I am almost cetain we will wind up in Dallas sometime this evening and hopefully get home sometime on Sunday. The question of course is how to dig out the truck in the economy lot to get home........should be fun. Anyway I wanted to mention to anyone looking for a diving-snorkeling experience on the cheap to consider Little Corn Island Nicaragua. It is cheap, cheap, cheap and the reefs are in really good condition. I saw just about everything from the Caribbean Sea on the reefs. The water was about as clear as I have ever seen in 20 years of diving. Accomodations from 15 dollars per nite including AC. Excellent meals from 6 dollars. A full week including all air transport for about 850. dollars SUCH A DEAL. I guess its better to be snowed out in returning from vacation rather than before you leave! Bob
  9. My only regret on a 150 gal is the 36 inch depth. PIA to clean glass, place frags and to have to get a step stool out every time to feed or work on the tank takes much dedication. Consider a more shallow tank with bigger foot print.
  10. I hit Sea Save once about 2.5 years ago. I found a beautiful Recordia rock for sale and purchased for $70.00. I felt like I got a good deal. One month later I called to ask if they had more Recordias in stock. I explained the previous month I had purchased a beautiful rock for $70.00 and would like to purchase more. This guy was SO ABUSIVE on the phone explaining that I ripped him off because this was a $300.00 rock. I told him there were no prices posted and the employee was the one that sold me the rock at that price. Unfortunatly, I believe this employee was fired over my transaction. Needless to say, I have not been back nor do I intend to patronize Sea Save......... If I did, I would be as crazy as the owner!!! As for House of Tropicals.....sigh, the fish dont look super healthy to me. I dont think their tanks are particularly clean or appealing and I didnt think their prices were any great deals. ONCE AGAIN I SAY.....THANK YOU FOR JOHN B, SEAN, AND SEVERAL OTHER LOCAL (DC AREA) STORES THAT WE ARE LUCKY ENOUGH TO HAVE TO SHOP AT!!!
  11. Thanks for confirming the increase in temp = increase agression etc. Besides the Flame Angel, I am now also missing my fire shrimp, a neon goby and a mandaran. All these creatures have been together for more than two years and had never been bothered before. This guy is constantly paceing and always seem ravenous. It will be nice to have him "CHILL" once I get my new chiller on line!! PS..... if you have a Current/Tower chiller; consider your self F___ed! They have stopped manufacturing and selling replacement probes and have discontinued the line. Color me not happy with CURRENT!
  12. I am not sure if it is increased temperature (chiller problems) that causes increased metabolism..... but, my pink tail trigger who is about 5.5 inches and normally docile took a fair sized chunk out of my thumb enough to bleed last night while I was removing previous days nori clips. Later I noticed my Flame Angel was 3/4 eaten. (again I suspect the Trigger). Has anyone else had a trigger turn agressive? My Hippo keeps him in line. I was just suprised by the Pink Tail Triggers actions.
  13. Steve, My skimmer does the same. If I am not lazy I empty and clean, even if just a little skimmate in cup. All logic says the skimmer works better if clean. If I am lazy I let it go until I feel like cleaning. Bob

    hi all

My Flame angel is a model citizen. As Kevin G sez....."Just watch it, they can be hit or miss." Please Learning; do a little more research and reading before you buy something just because it is pretty. You can save yourself a lot of money that you are concerned about! Bob
