  1. small world.....down there myself most days......no, not owner of titan truck
  2. not expert but I used and like the CaribSea Seaflor Special Grade Reef Sand: 1 - 1.7mm diameter grain size. mix what you have and it should give you a nice look and keep the cost down a little. use the savings for beer :-)
  3. great idea, mind sharing the plans. would love to re-create....tired of the ugly 5 gal bucket on the side of my tank......maybe mod it to be a little wider for a 3rd container or for my co2 tank. again, great idea
  4. go here losts easier then doing the math when you are in a hurry
  5. one quick solution is to get some of the "mold-a-holder" material and make a probe holder is a similar fashion as you do a float valve holder. material can be cut w/ scissors and then molded to fit any sump/tank/etc by just heating the material in a glass of hot water I know BRK has some last time I was out there mold-a-holder
  6. interested in the following; Reef Crystals 160 gallon mix. 2 boxes; 1 is full and the other is 70% full. Both for $35.
  7. first, unless you will have no rock or sand or anything other then just water , you will not have a 120g system. You will have to measure how much water is displaced once things are added the tank....sand, rocks, equipment, etc. Next, all I can speak to is the equipment I have on my 90 w/ 30 sump Octopus NW150 recirc (in sump) Ehiem 1262 return pump (in sump) HOB DIY fuge (36" x 18" x 4.5") moved to tunze 6080 and nano-streams to cut down on heat from powerheads. as for lights, I run 2 MH 250w Hamilton 14k and 2 48" 54w T5 actinics via a simple workhorse 5 ballast. Again, trying to limit heat given off from equipment. I do not run moonlights...yet...plan on getting the moonlights the connect into my aquacontroller but not this month look on reef central for ideas and product reviews.....then shop around for the best price.
  8. yes but you would then have to have each pump plugged into a DC4/8 taking up valuable socket space not just this unit
  9. http://www.neptunesys.com/modules.htm#AQUASURF The AquaSurf allows the AquaController to control any of the variable speed stream pumps which are compatible with the Tunze 7095 controller. Features of AquaSurf include: Works with any of the Tunze Stream pumps that are compatible with the Tunze 7095 controller. 4 independent channels for control of 4 pumps. Independent variable speed control on all channels. Resonate mode used to generate waves (with or without a wave box). Precise on/off period configuration. Mode of operation can be changed throughout the day. Uses enhanced AquaController programming language. Periodic pulse mode to keep fish out of the stream pump. Works w/ AC3, AC3Pro, and ACJr. 2 Mounting Holes for easy installation.

  11. so, just tested chip's water and mine .... results are as follows flowerseller's water test kit brand Salifert (note, two different salifert kits were used) batch number 0506B/0306B = 12.5 dKH batch number 0606K/0806W = 13.8 dKH test kit brand marineland = 12.6 kngfisher's water test kit brand Salifert (note, two different salifert kits were used) batch number 0506B/0306B = 13.4 batch number 0606K/0806W = 14.5 test kit brand marineland = 14
  12. any issues with leaking? cost? where would I find such and animal?
  13. great idea...was looking at lamote if need be.
  14. Reef Fanatic Probe Holder Bulkhead anyone even tried to add a pH probe to there calcium reactor? would this even work?
  15. not if you put a ball valve in before the rector.....this way you have control as to the amount of water is being supplied to the reactor..... I used to have a mj600 to my reactor but then I just tapped off from my return pump (ehiem 1262) and feed my reactor and my skimmer (ball valve on both). I now have control of water feeding reactor and rate of effluent leaving reactor.
  16. A little too graphic... not that the picture in everyone's mind of Chip and Howard isn't... ewww!
  17. nice simple idea w/ the beta holder. if worried about the suction cups, can glue a magnet to it too.
  18. I run a 1262 on a 90gal display w/ a 30gal sump.....use the extra pump capacity to drive my skimmer and calcium reactor....and HOB (will on shelf technically so not hanging on :-) 36x18x4 fuge.
  19. decision is up to you and your situation. I added a WavySea+ to my running 90 but if I were to do it again, and I was starting a new tank, I would go OM 4 way and drill holes on the back of tank at different levels so I would have no powerheads in the display at all. looks like that would be great even in a closed loop system.....like anything else, its a toy. Not needed to be successful but sure nice to have if you can afford it. I agree, although after poweroutage, the wavysea needing to be reset is easy, sometimes can be annoying....you can attach the wavysea to an UPS but that adds expense.....again, if I were to have done it over, would have gotten an OM Do not know the reliability of OM but just like the rest, they are not water-proof......wish someone would design a product for a change that was....wonder how hot a OM gets, could you encase it in a balloon like the old analog speed controller on an RC car....
  20. BRK has the bulkheads. Do not know about the 1"x3/4"x3/4" barb.....try http://www.mcmaster.com/
  21. March 06 March 07 tank setup w/mix of live and base rock. Live rock came from 5 year old FOWLR tank......estimate 70lbs of rock and sand bed of ~4 inches. placed rock in first then sand. Tank is standard 90gal acrylic
