  1. Thanks for the help everyone. I think I am going to have to get one of the beta holders.
  2. Does anyone actually do anything to help move pods from the fuge into the display? I do not want my mandarin to starve, should I exchange rocks in and out of the tank to the fuge or will enough pods just get pushed into the display by the return pump? Thanks in Advance, James
  3. Try a Hydor Koralia. I had two Seio 1100s and went to the Koralias. I like them much better. They look better and have even a more spread out flow than the seios. They use way less energy that the maxijets and they even come with their own magnet mounts. James
  4. Justin, The single best investment you can make in this hobby IMHO is an RO/DI filter. I tried not getting one and had nothing but problems for years. Your tank can only ever be as good as the water you are putting in it. Different jurisdictions have very different tap water, just because your friend's water is OK does not mean that yours is. My tank is doing 10x better since I went to RO/DI water. Good Luck, James
  5. My lawnmower blenny looks like he is starving. I have had him for about 5 months and at first he was doing well. He never ate anything but algae and now I think the cheato in my fuge is growing so fast that I think now there is not enough algae growing in the display to keep my lawnmower nice and fat like he used to be. Is there anything they will ear besides algae?? Any suggestions?? Thanks in Advance, James
  6. I just got a new RO/Di from the filter guys and my TDS is aboutthe same as yours and my water pre Di is about 5. I think you are going to burn up alot of DI resin if your TDS is that high after your RO stage, which can be super expensive in the long run. I highly recomend the filter guys, RO/DIs are like everything in life, you get what you pay for.
  7. I just installed my RO/Di from the Filter Guys and it was a pleasure dealing with them. I had a tricky install and they were very helpful and even priority mailed a part that I was missing(no fault of theirs). The system is top notch! Great guys to deal with. James
  8. Anton, I actually have been looking to get a Powder Brown Tang, so if by PBT that is what you mean, I would gladly take him off your hands. If he is a blue, then that is another story. James
  9. Erik, Thanks for the response. Your answer pretty much reinforces what I thought. The holes just seem to be so darn small. It seems as if I were to open them up like an inch all the way around that it would not weaken the tank much, but i am sure you know way more than I do. They are only 8 inches wide and my lights are about 12 inches, so I guess I will not lose that much light.
  10. I am upgrading from a glass 55 to a 90 gallon Clarity Plus Acrylic tank and the two holes in the top of the new tank seem to be quite small. They are a few inches narrower than my light strip and I am concerned that will affect the performance of my lights as well as possibly create heat issues, so I am considering cutting the holes to make them wider. So my questions are: Is the light going first through the acrylic then into the tank going to significantly reduce the PAR reaching the tank and will opening the holes, but leaving the center brace going to significantly weaken the tank?? Any and all help wil be greatly appreciated. James
  11. I am having the same problem. I PM'd my receipt to the admin twice and still have not been upgraded.
