  1. very useful! thx guys
  2. Interesting to know... thanks for sharing.
  3. FYI - Not sure if its suitable for our reefs, but Home Depot is having a sale on natural play sand. Four 50lb bags for $10. In the weekly ad search bar, type in "play sand." HomeDepot
  4. hahaha. that thing is huge.
  5. Definitely eheim if you dont mind spending the extra $.
  6. For submersibles, I've had good experience with Mag Drive pumps.
  7. So is that the secret to get caps to plate in multiple layers? Mine tend to grow out into a flat large single plate.
  8. that's awesome
  9. I didn't notice that. It also looks like they haven't had those in stock for over a year... :( They do have a bunch of other LED strips (not as nice) that look like they may work. Just to list a couple... http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.5111 http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.5240
  10. I've ordered stuff from them before, but never really looked at fish stuff. They sell a digital thermometer that looks identical to the Coralife Digital Thermometer for only $3.29 shipped vs $6-7 un-shipped. http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.15704 Also, they have a nicely packaged blue LED strip that looks like it could be used as a moon light. Too bad there aren't any reviews on this particular item. I wonder if you could get a few of them and string them together off of one power source? http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.5270
  11. Let us know how it goes with trying to glue the maxi jets. I used the cheap penntax (sp?) magnetic algae cleaners that cost about $5 and they seem to be ok.
  12. Because you need a tank now and cheap, trying to fix your current tank may be your best solution. Although the advice provided here is sound advice, you know your situation better than anyone. That's why you have to take all advice with a grain of salt... including mine Good luck
  13. Wow, that's pretty amazing. Can't believe you all built this yourselves! Nice work
  14. Thanks for pointing that out. I did a quick search on cerith egg pics and I think you're right. http://www.reefsanctuary.com/forums/reef-h...snail-eggs.html Though most of the patterns I saw from searching seem to be more symetrical like this: http://lh4.ggpht.com/_ZcSL1IBcCpg/ST6T5QNc...s912/cerith.jpg
  15. Yea, that's what it looks like to me also... just never seen it before and it's odd that the trail starts from the middle of the wall. If it is just a snail trail, man, that's one heavy duty slime. lol
  16. I'm using this pump: http://www.reefdosingpumps.com/products/sentry.html Can the BRS or Cole pump work with an autotopoff? Even though the Reef Dosing Pump claims "silent" operation, I can still hear it from about 6-8 ft away. And when the power goes out, I have to reset the dosing rate in order for it to work again (no backup battery). Looks like the BRS will work when the power is restored since it doesn't have a cpu built-in. Also, is a 2 roller (BRS) really better than a 4 roller setup?
  17. I've seen other types of snail eggs in my tank before, but never like this: Does anyone know what this is? It's located about half way up the glass and looks like small clumps of sand attached to a stringy substance. Thanks
  18. hahaha Cool idea btw!
  19. This one has zoom. http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?...t79&topnav=
  20. Something like this would work, minus the ability to zoom and pan, but it's pretty inexpensive. Gives you remote monitoring via computer or windows mobile phone. http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?...t79&topnav=
  21. Pretty chill sound track to your green house vid. What is it from?
  22. They seem all fine together in the fish store
  23. Cool. It's been a while since I've checked out that Petco off of Minneville.
  24. Is their grade posted somewhere in the store where we would be able to see it? Now I'm curious
