  1. Will there be a "behind the scenes" tour and if so, when will it happen? I'm trying to make this event, but don't think I'd be able to stay for the entire thing. Thanks!
  2. Sorry to hear... glad you decided to stay in the hobby. Good luck and looking forward to new pics.
  3. Hey Chris, congrats on the marriage!
  4. It took 37 years? At least is wasn't our federal gov.
  5. Glad it came back on... even after all that work. Do you have a shelter for the generator or were you just planning on leaving it out in the rain?
  6. Do a search on "mesh mod"... it's basically modifying the existing needlewheel in your skimmer's pump with mesh to increase air flow and reduce bubble size.
  7. Wish we could edit the first post to include an updated list of all the stores... quite a few new stores opened over the past few months.
  8. Exactly... I wouldn't try to get it to 1.025 overnight so it's going to take more than 27 gallons total if you're only replacing a few gallons at a time.
  9. Looking good! I love the black background... hopefully your tank holds up with that chip. I'd be too worried about it... what did glasscages say?
  10. It can help depending on how you set it up... the LR just acts as an obstacle forcing some of the bubbles to flow to and pop at the surface before getting sucked into the return pump.
  11. Yup, I've done this and the only thing that happened was losing coralline.
  12. I "think" I just scored a Powermax 4400w 6.5 HP OHV Gas Powered Generator With Wheel Kit (CARB Compliant) #XP4400 from eBay for $276 shipped using the Microsoft LiveSearch Discount I posted about a days ago (HERE). If you search on eBay, you should be able to find the same generator for $368 shipped minus the LiveSearch discount of 25% off using the "Buy it now" option and Paypal to checkout. The catch is that you have to act quickly once you get the desired discount because the rate doesn't last long and appears to change hourly. The cashback has not officially been posted to my account yet (could take up to 60 days according the T&C's), but I made sure to take screen shots of every page while checking out. I searched around and the reviews for this generator seem to be decent, especially for the price. Amazon is selling this generator for $399 plus $100 shipping. (HERE)
  13. If you measured and the only thing holding you back from getting that sump in there is the top center brace, do like the poster above suggested and tap it out. I had to do the same for my tank. I just nailed it back in afterwards...
  14. Do the generator "experts" on this site think it's worth it? value vs quality?
  15. Dan, are you there everyday? Btw, you should setup a nice sw tank there
  16. Should be easy to remove since they can't retract back into a rock.
  17. Nice vid Dan! Definitely a good marketing tool. We'll have to make it out there some time.
  18. I remember thinking the same thing the last time we had a huge power outage... but this time, I'm actually going to purchase one. As for quiet generators, I saw and heard the Honda inverter generators (EU1000 or 2000) in person and they are amazingly quiet. But they're not a very good bang for your buck power source. I'd like to find a generator by comparing the noise output and fuel efficiency. I'd probably just want to run a a pump or two and maybe a tv. Any recommendations?
  19. 7 months? It must've been how I cut the mesh... I prob cut it too large causing it to rub against the sides. On my 2nd set, I made effort to cut the mesh without breaking some of the loops. Kinda hard to explain...
  20. I definitely need to invest in a generator... Just don't know which one to get. $100 is pretty cheap for a generator, but I also don't want it to explode or break in 1 yr.
  21. So I ended up doing the mod and have no regrets. The mesh wheel definitely chops up the air into smaller finer bubbles. With the mesh mod, when I remove the collection cup with the pump still running, I can feel a fine mist being created by the micro-bubbles popping. Only draw back is that you'll probably need to re-mesh the wheel after several months, so I would just order extra right off the bat. The mesh will begin to fall apart...
  22. Can't help you with finding bigger shells, but would love to see a pic of this monster.
