  1. Would the minimal amounts of ozone produced by an Ionic Breeze effect the water chemistry of a tank in a small enclosed room (12x12)?
  2. On the water bridges, is the water stagnant? How would you clean inside the tubes?
  3. Do you guys think the JBJ bulbs ($14 ea) are worth twice the cost of the generic ones from Aquatic Factory ($7 ea)? Actually, after shipping, the JBJ's are about $5 more per bulb. Really appreciate the info. Thanks!
  4. Thanks. You're pointing me in the right direction. Now I just need to find actinics. What happens if I get the incorrect wattage?
  5. The actinic bulb in my lighting fixture went out and I don't remember the wattage and size I need. Here's a pic I took with my cell that didn't come out to well. The overall length is 12.5", but the bulb itself is only 11.5". On the base, it says, "Coral Star YDW24-H." Is this a 24w straight pin PC? And can you recommend a place to get this locally and online? Thanks!
  6. I just saw my cleaner shrimp grab a small bristle worm and basically picked it apart to eat. Is this normal? I think its cool for the cleaner to help keep my bristle worm population down... Anyone else ever notice this?
  7. How often do you clean your skimmer? FWIW, I have those guys in my tank and they don't bother any of my corals.
  8. IME, peppermints will generally hide during the day. I put two in my tank over a month ago and one of them is finally starting to come out when the lights are on. It'll come out briefly searching for food and then go back to hiding. My cleaner NEVER hides and will come to my hand when I stick it in the tank. They don't bother each other...
  9. If you were to buy an 250w electronic today, which one would you buy and why? I was interested in the new Icecap electronic ballasts, but couldn't find much info on them. I've seen a couple threads comparing them to the Lumatek and ARO ballasts, but had no real objective conclusion.
  10. I have some yellow porites that were originally placed pretty high in the tank as a frag. Now it's grown within a cm from the surface of the water. Short of moving the coral, what will happen when it gets to the surface?
  11. omg... i think the moving text is making me cross eyed!
  12. That's awesome!
  13. Very cool. Thanks for the info.
  14. Welcome!
  15. I agree with Dave. Let your bacteria colony establish itself before you add external elements that will influence the biological balance.
  16. Do you have a battery operated air pump? I wouldn't worry about temp right now... If you sitting at home, maybe get a clean cup and randomly create some flow by swishing it around. My tank's been powerless for 2-3 hours with no ill-effects.
  17. www.dursostandpipes.com/BuildYourOwn/tabid/54/Default.aspx (their site might be down right now)
  18. If you're not sure of what pieces comprise of the "durso" kit, search online for pics and put one together yourself for much cheaper.
  19. Sounds nice... tagging for pics.
  20. My coralife digital temp doesn't seem to be consistent. If I turn it off and back on, it'll give me a different reading. LOL.
  21. You could do it with a 10g, but if you have the space, you'll be happier you went with the 20g in the long run. It just gives you more flexibility as to what you can add in the sump/fuge and options to configure the setup.
  22. Welcome and good luck! The people here are very nice and helpful.

    Paint

I used Krylon Fusion spray paint, but imagine any spray paint will do. If you guys want to use vinyl, I remember a custom sticker shop in Springfield off of Backlick Rd near the Toyota dealer. I'm sure you can also find places in the superpages, but I think it's going to cost more than $8-10 for 500g sized tank.
  24. It looks interesting, but for the price, I'd probably look into a 2.5g - 10g (unless that's bigger than you wanted).
  25. Same here
