  1. GE Silicone I (without mold inhibitors) is fine to use. Can be found at Home Depot / Lowes. I will say that over time, the silicone becomes milky white. Not sure if the comparable Aqueon silicone sealant stays clear over time, but it generally cost 2x more.
  2. My six line killed a newly added flame angel over night, then all of sudden started picking on my 2 clowns that it was fine with prior to the flame. Couldn't catch the six line, so I put the clowns in the fuge for a week. Attempted to put them back in and the six line still nipped. I eventually put the clowns in an acclimation box for a couple weeks and now the six line leaves them alone.
  3. Good point. Confusing description at best. I measured 12.23mm with my calipers. I've only used John Guest fittings for the RO/DI tubing. Would they connect securely to drain cup nipple? I was originally considering a rubber elbow similar to the CoralVue version.
  4. I do have calipers... Will measure to verify. That elbow has a 15/32 ID, so I assumed the drain nipple on the cup had a 15/32 outer diameter. Thanks for the suggestions.
  5. Yes there's a drain already. Skimmer is a Reef Octopus 152s. The drain might be a 15/32 diameter.
  6. Anyone know where I can find something like this locally? Haven't checked HD or Lowe's in store yet, but couldn't find anything searching their sites. https://www.coralvue.com/drain-line-elbow-adapter Thanks
  7. This looks amazing. Can you tell us about your tank... water parameters, lighting schedule, dosing routine, maintenance etc? Thanks
  8. It can use the same SSID, but in reality, it's still two separate connections and running the same SSID won't allow you to pick and chose which one you want to connect to. For the device closest to the extender, it should automatically pick up the stronger signal, but if you're connected on your phone and move about your place, your phone could continue to maintain the weaker SSID. I don't know if your router and/extender has the ability to set minimum RSSI to release the connection so your device can connect to the stronger signal. However, it shouldn't be a problem for your Apex because it's stationary.
  9. Powerlines are generally better than extenders. With the extender, you'll have another SSID you'll need to connect your wireless devices that need the "boosted" signal. You'll have to run ethernet from the apex to the extender. The extender is connecting wirelessly to the router. With powerlines, you're using your home's electrical wiring to connect to your router (more stable and generally faster). You could add another router to the powerline and create an access point. If you wanted to keep it really simple and depending on how far away the apex is from the router, you could run a long ethernet cable and use cord covers.
  10. Welcome! That's true dedication moving the tank from Louisiana.
  11. I concur. The aquatic section at this Petco is one of the better ones...
  12. Where did you get these from? Looks kinda similar to the Apex ones. I have the Apex ATO and a just a bit of salt creep from water splashing in the return chamber caused the sensor to stay "closed." This was over the course of several months... My fault for not wiping it off periodically.
  13. I'm using brs 1.1ml dosers. If I run out of outlets on the Apex, I could move these to simple digital timers.
  14. Xabo, what do you have in your tank and did Dino X affect it? Let us know how it goes.
  15. If the 250s aren't physically too big for your tank, I'd recommend those. Gives you more options to turn up/down the flow rate. Keep in mind that these pumps operating at +70% sounds noticeable.
  16. Agreed that maintenance is a pain compared to standard prop powerheads, but after the learning curve, it's not too bad. One advantage to the gyres is that you can place them close to corals and aim the flow up and over. I have a maxxspect x230 and the controller died within 3 months, but they replaced it under warranty.
  17. Forgot to mention I'm using that cam as a baby monitor for my toddler. It's a great value, but not as convenient as a real baby monitor for baby monitoring purposes. However, you can access it externally from your home network. Most dedicated baby monitors can't. I don't have direct experience with this one, but many enthusiasts say it's pretty good. https://m.ebay.com/itm/Dahua-IPC-A35-3MP-Support-Wi-Fi-SD-Card-Mic-Network-PT-IP-Camera-Baby-Monitor/201957009720?epid=577617393&hash=item2f05936938:g:iiUAAOSwWM9ZmrK9
  18. Nest and most of the heavily marketed cameras are going to be the easiest to setup with the best customer support, but you are usually going to pay a monthly fee for cloud recording. I have a few old Foscam wireless ptz 8910s and 9281s years ago as my first cams. Wireless connectivity isn't reliable and many of the IR leds have burned out. My newer Foscam R2 is decent, but I've moved all of these wifi cams to areas that don't matter. They all have on board recording to an SD card, but I'm running a dedicated Blue Iris server for all of my cams. The areas that require reliability are all wired cams that record 24/7. Hikvision and Dahua are the brands that you want if quality and dependability are your number one priority. This is a solid wifi cam, but doesn't have pan, tilt, or zoom. It's a relabeled Hikivision. https://www.amazon.com/ANNKE-Impressive-Detection-Progressive-connection/dp/B01EL3Y1YM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1514972648&sr=8-1&keywords=Annke+cube
  19. Removed extra period in link. https://washingtondc.craigslist.org/nva/for/d/large-furniture-grade-reef/6438850976.html
  20. What are the parameter differences between these two mixes? Couldn't find it on their site.
  21. Do they sell replacement braces? In the mean time, maybe a couple bar clamps will help just in case... I put a piece of foil across my center brace when I had halides, but where yours cracked, it prob wouldn't have helped.
