  1. Gotcha thanks. That will work perfect. I hate spending money when I have egg crates but this is adjustable and will be easier to clean and stuff
  2. I want to boost the water level in my sump but skimmer recommends only 6" depth. I don't need anything pretty. Are cinder block reef safe?
  3. Totally rad! Did you change tank temp or lighting schedule or anything you can think of that triggered it?
  4. Fourth in line? Lol
  5. Really cool stuff going on in this box! Do your office mates look or have interest in the tank? It seems when we have people over at the house people take a quick look at the tank and that's it. Kindof shocks me
  6. I hate ecotech for the prices. But I end up with them. My new jebao WP 40s are really growing on me.
  7. Beautiful fish Rik. Hope Marcos is able to find a beautiful large home for this one. Thanks for donating to the club Marcos!
  8. I had the same idea. Just used smaller Tupperware containers. 15gallon to be exact because they can be lifted one at a time.. Filled each less than 1/2 way with water then added live rock and coral to bring water level up. Please please do not disturb the sand bed until you are drained to last few inches. All the rest of the water and sand is easiest to throw out and have new sand ready or it's a good time to start bare bottom. Yes you could try to save sand with tons of rinsing and sifting. It's so hard to add sand after water is in and not reccomended. After everything is up and running make sure you up water change schedule. There will be a lot of nasties stirred up and also you will lose some of your benificial de nitrifying bacteria in sand and tank walls etc so it's a good idea to help the system out. Good luck and if you work PE703 PM me
  9. Wow chuck that tank is stunning. Yea any time I get RTN I usually trace it back to alk swings or low alk, calcium. Sometimes it happens weeks before I see RTN and I'm not sure. It doesn't seem to take much. That pond is so cool I need to put one in at my new house also. The property is sloped so I will have to build a retaining wall at lower end. You should drop a channel catfish in that thing! HUGE
  10. I have to run a dehumidifier in basement with tanks. It seems to run non stop. Right now I have 450g total of water though with sumps, QT tanks etc. They have battery operated water alarms you lay on ground that can notify your cell phone and make an annoying noise in case of overflow. RODI is most likely to overflow in my house because I forget about it. I have a emergency shutoff valve I need to install.
  11. Wow. Name it Epleeds pumpkin spice chalice
  12. Looks like cyano to me also try siphoning it off rock into bucket
  13. He needs to do lots of water changes during all this dipping. There will be a lot of die off and ammonia spike is possible. The peroxide may even mess with denitrifying good bacteria. I was never able to peroxide because of the SPS and massive amount of rock. My concern with it is if he doesn't make some nutrient changes he might be going right back where he started 1-2 months from now. Maybe even quicker since the peroxide will only kill the algae not the phosphate problem in the tank and phosphates packed in the rocks.
  14. I keep a stable 9-9.5. That way if my doser clogs, fails or whatever I have time to catch it before it gets below 7. And also time to catch it raising before it gets dosed up too high also.
  15. 4 extra amp hours for $80 less sounds great to me. Especially in terms of 2-4 extra frags
  16. His Rock is saturated with phosphates. No matter what critter you add it will continue to grow back and critters increase bio load causing more problems. Yea critters will mow the lawn. But the grass is still there growing because it has unlimited nutrients. GFO, aggressive skimming and spot feed fish instead of broadcast feeding to ensure all food gets eaten.
  17. I think the people crashing tanks put a ton in. Just do dose BRS recommends. Do you have SPS in there?
  18. I got ripped off also. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. I would try it. They somehow find a way to live. Recently found they live in my display with lots of fish but I can only spot them when I am under the tank and look up under the rockwork in my bare bottom. They must know the fish can't reach them in certain spots under there.
  20. I use Red Sea. It's a pain also. But luckily I don't have to dose mag yet so I only check it once a month
  21. You sure it's not ick? the ick may not have reached its contagious life cycle yet. Or the other fish could have immune systems that are temporarily overcoming it. The spots shown could be a fungal infection secondary to ick.
  22. You guys are saying you havnt seen or smelled the death mist? I cant start my mornings without getting a good sniff of good old death mist. -- and let me emphasize that you just can't make this stuff up -- This guy must have been talented if he grew a 70 lb clump of zoas.
  23. I don't have rimless but don't use a canopy anymore. I would only be concerned with direct light spill. Could you put that LED low enough to water surface to where there is no direct light spillage? Does hang kit allow for a very small angle towards dry wall? The wife and I used to love the LED shimmer that would be cast onto ceiling. Relaxing. t5 now :(
  24. I think acrylic scratch easier (read that but never owned one) that's enough reason to keep me away unless it's super large or a sump
  25. Cool thanks! I may end up needing a bigger QT tank Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
