  1. I know this is really basic but have to check because I had these problems because Im new. make sure your water level in sump does not fluctuate. for every half inch of water drop in my sump, the bubbles drop 2-3 inches in my skimmer. take apart and make sure there is nothing stuck in pump, dirt etc. As with any skimmer bubbles drop with hands in water so you have to make fine tuning adjustments a half hour or so after touching any part of the system. fishfood etc can do the same thing.
  2. Yes but the big Zoa is dis colored ill research that palys thank you. It still stays open so I don't think it's Zoa pox any more thanks for your help.
  3. I think it's Zoa pox now after doing some research. :(
  4. The ones that are green are ok and I do not believe have any white spots. The sick ones are losing color
  5. White spots on neck. Need identification help and treatment. Thanks
  6. My MP40 blows mine around when its on full blast. But only blows directly below where the main jet stream deflects off the glass. I just put sand in last week so Im no expert on the matter yet. I bought very fine powdery sand Im going to try a little heavier stuff in that area. Also I could put a rock in that location to help breakup the strong flow. What is comes down to is that its not a huge problem and I wouldnt worry too much about it.
  7. Here is what my reef octopus directions say. Collection Cup: It should be cleaned at least once a week, depending on the organic load. Cleaning will enhance the extraction substantially. Reaction Chamber: Take apart skimmer and clean every 6 months recommended. Pump: Take apart pump and clean every 4 months recommended. Use a vinegar/water solution for cleaning off excess build up. The parts included with the pump are the venturi, volute cover, pinwheel impeller, and shaft with 2 rubber grommets.
  8. Them things put on one heck of a lightning bolt display thats a bummer! :( :( Who did you order it from?
  9. Doubt you are serious because that is funny stuff. But I think there is a chance you are because I find my wifes hair all over the darn house and on my clothing. But I dont have any in the fish tank. This could be a bad procedure but I rinse my hands/arms in sink water before entering tank. Cover your RODI water trash can with a trash can lid. Cover transport water buckets. Oh and tell her to stop having dunking for apples contests in tank while you are gone.
  10. Ok thanks I'll do a check on the generator!
  11. paul will them suckers reproduce or are they just for a healthy snack? I know mandarins will eat amphipods but do most other fish eat them for a snack? when I turn my lights on at night I see dark flee like 1-2mm bugs scurry into the rock crevices are they amphipods or copods? Im drilling a refugium tank this week can't wait.
  12. Don't forget about considering weight of a larger tank too since it probably isn't going in a basement. A longer tank goes over more floor joists giving less risk of floor sag. But that is opening up a whole new can of worms :( my hippo tang lives in 125g 6' seems as happy as a captive fish can be.
  13. Well I learned today that coralline has many shades of red and also different colors. It's hard not slimy. You guys are good. The white feels like sponge. I bought/moved this 125 tank used 2 weeks ago that rock was moved and probably flipped over. The rocks have a variety of sponges. Will the light kill the sponge?
  14. Looks spongy because it has a kind of fancy detail like frost on a window. Is the maroon on tip of the other rock normal?
  15. Chose wrong picture. This is the right one.
  16. What about the white stuff on the top of the rock? What is the maroon?
  17. What about the white stuff on the top of the rock? What is the maroon?
  18. I think they are thank you. Will they sting me or do they just sting coral? This rock is getting scrubbed then boiled later!
  19. I have had all the same problems with my aqua c. Finally got it working after adjusting valves for a week. It still takes a dump for about an hour after sticking hands in or food. gave up on it and am waiting on a more user friendly reef octopus. It's not worth the risk. Anyone want to buy it?
  20. What is this tiny brown stuff? Is it safe lol? It's only on one rock right now. Thanks!
  21. there is no right or wrong answer here. Just try going with less water changes and see what happens. I just put a baby whale in mine with no water changes and no problems yet
  22. When I get my tank im going to plunge my head in and have my teeth cleaned. jk
