  1. My tuxedo was on walls 90% of time. When it was off walls it was a holy tank terror. Since my frags aren't secured. The 2 urchins helped but couldn't even come close to keeping up with the coraline problem on back and side walls in my 125. They will help with rock algae if they like the taste of the algae
  2. Mad reefer we have similar taste. I have been looking at those on JF and reefcentral. Look as amazing in person as Internet?
  3. I agree they look plump and healthy they will heal.. They were damaged at some point. Could have been anything. Probably just rubbing on rock from flow and being pushed over by the snails. I have had the same trumpet colony for 2 years and have never fed it. I'm sure it helps
  4. good suggestions! Due to the green base and sprouts coming out I would bet some pulsing Xenia its Duncan!
  5. I have noticed around 90% of tanks, fish stores etc. have the vermetid snail attached to frag plugs or somewhere in their tank. The buggers get around. The good thing is that they don't cause a huge problem very often. I would just cover the ones you find with super glue or remove from tank with bonecutter no worries mon! The less colorful palys tend to have higher concentration of the toxin. The less colorful also start to spread fast if you keep them a while so I removed mine after a year. I have seen the toxin cause problems on here a few times and it's usually from a colony of them rapidly dieing then the toxin being aerosolized by skimmer or boiling rock on stove. IMO Palys are safe and a lot of fun as long as you have the knowledge to protect yourself.
  6. Do you have a deep blue tort available? If so I would like one please
  7. Most beautiful slugs I ever seen man

  9. Great looking tank! Mine change color if I move them to different conditions/tanks/lights. I never know what final colors they will have until months later after settled in. So that may be one thing to consider. They do seem to put on best coloring when happy. Based on the pictures I just have two minor concernes to consider. The nem size in compared to the two clowns. Unfortunately clowns can really beat up on smaller nems like this. Some are gentle and can handle it and other clowns are so rough with them irritating the nem. The other concern is that the tentacles are not long and whispy like when my BTAs are happy. They are kind of short and stubby with different size shape like when mine are Thinking about going downhill. I don't keep a green BTA so some of this info could be in accurate
  10. I would start by siphoning it out and possibly adding something to stir up sandbed(as long as it doesn't increase bio load much making problem worse) red slime remover will get rid of bad red bacteria but the downside is it can mess with the good bacteria consuming the nasties. Possible ammonia spike is Too much risk for me
  11. With my experiences in the tank it seems there are 3 situations with phosphates and you can only pick one scenario. 1) higher phosphate levels producing nice color in SPS decent growth but unsightly algae in a lot of places. 2)get phosphates down, starve out the algae and lose SPS Color in only a few pieces. Still decent growth3) choke out all algae with massive SPS colonies soaking up nutrients and light. Finally starting to see option 3 come into play. Hope I didn't get too far off subject. My opinion is that RODI is worth the little bit extra bit of money and time. (Not worth the risk) I do however run up the TDS to 2-3 before changing DI resin
  12. The fishing line mesh looks a lot thinner than on BRS website which is great! You brought up a good point with the feeding. I guess when Im on vacation I could just put the fish on a strict diet of pellets so it can fall/roll though the mesh. I really don't like the Idea of having a screen on the tank but there is no worse feeling than when a wrasse or firefish jumps
  13. Please show me your tanks screen netting. Or let me know if you like the BRS stuff. 1/4" to me seems like overkill and i read it reduced someone's par by 10% which would bother me. Hopefully someone can change my mind or show me a different product. Thanks
  14. My LFS runs copper profalacticly which seems to help. The other fish store does not and I can tell a difference with fish health. I keep black worms and feed once a week with them. It seems to boost morale in the tank just like steak night at the firehouse.
  15. I'll take him if you ever drive through Frederick MD
  16. The corner one is from our sponsor ESHOPPS. The other one is from eBay. Sealed, strong and durable magnets are worth the extra money because they will last for years. And that can be hard to see when shopping on Internet.
  17. they are nice. Better growth but I do miss the shimmer and color pop the LEDs gave.
  18. Research STN. There are a ton of factors. I think alkalinity stability is the most important. It also helps if it is encrusting and healed when putting SPS in tank
  19. I had only one piece do that when I switched from LED to T5. Maybe lighting at tips is too strong for growth up there but is fine down lower.

  21. I have had mine under all sorts of different lighting and they seem to do well under it all. A side note on the vermetid. It seems every frag I buy on wamas lately has tiny one on the plug. These guys get around. The good thing is that it's not often where I find one bothering stuff. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Switched from LED to T5 ATI sun power because all the hype. Growth is slightly better which is nice but I do miss the shimmer a lot very relaxing! Also I liked the coral color better under the LED more pop. There are some colors that look better under T5 but not as many in my tank. So it's all what you want they all grow stuff.
  23. I have seen 2 situations where a group of my zoas aren't happy. 1) algae nearby tickling, stinging and touching it 2) vermetid snail spitting on or nearby and I think I may have spotted one Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. I have no idea but I would try moving it to a different spot before doing anything Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. Never seen that. Possible too little light? It's Not sure if it is getting light to open up? If it's a fresh cut I wouldn't worry yet everything looks great
