  1. I run an "undetectable" tank and color is ok. I would rather settle for ok colors right now than hair algae and the cyano that takes place when I try bumping numbers up. When the tank really starts to fill in with SPS I'll try bumping up nutrients again to see what colors they put on. There won't be a lot of room left for the algae and cyano at that point
  2. 20ml per cup of your tankwater is an aggressive dose and what Most use also. It will make milky white color after mixed but you can still see though it a little Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Mag is still replaced by water changes in my system. Calcium I manually dose still but thinking about a dosing pump for laziness. Alk in my opinion should always be done in slow dosing pump.
  4. Looks similar to photosynthetic blue sponge. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Great deal. Bumpskis
  6. if the tank is small and adding a decent amount of rock I could see it getting taxed to limit. Just add rock slowly if you are concerned. How much rock is in there now and how much are you re introducing?
  7. Wow cool yea I would release all of them in display. Grow out your fingernail a little and start pry peeling. The RBTAs being traded/sold on this website are very hardy
  8. They will for sure Since there are no fish in there to eat them. My sump and frag tank were loaded with them (fishless) but couldn't locate a single one in display. I spot a lot of them hanging out in overflows and can see them in clear plastic overflow tubing. My sump now has a clownfish in it but doesn't eat all of them.
  9. Talk to theseahorseconcervacy. If you are looking for saltwater smaller version mysid shrimp then I'll try to catch some in my sump
  10. Yea and remember. Nems don't have a brain. But they continue to outsmart us
  11. Take the foam off. Makes things more exciting. Just make sure the extra flow isn't going to make them want to go streaking
  12. I have the super reef octopus SRO5000 I think is the name of it. It's been great but that avast looks awesome which I knew about it then
  13. Tax Em. Like Montgomery county Maryland. No one wants to pay .5c a bag
  14. We could probably get away with it but I don't think its worth the risk. I have seen my water come out orange after they flush nearby fire hydrants. Trace elements of copper probably won't hurt anything but like Tom said the ATO is constantly going to be pumping in so you probably wouldn't be able to slack on water changes. Plus they are finding trace medication in tap now you can't have a bunch of fish swimming around in Viagra water
  15. Are your nitrate and phosphate undetectable? If so similar situation and you may be better off throwing the chaeto in trash lol try better flow but didn't work for me Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. I would think phosphates would be a better growth indicator on it. I used to grow it like crazy 1 trim per week. Now that I have a better skimmer it doesn't grow at all. I have undetectable phosphates and nitrates right now though. In the past I have seen cyano out compete the chaeto and stop its growth by growing on the chaeto
  17. one of my pep shrimps ended up down in the overflows which helped with that side. With the other side yes I would scrape them and try to remove. They grow back sometimes but a lot of the time you never see them again.

  19. Zoas take up sand as they grow and confused me when I had issues. I would guess you havnt seen it because they havnt been angry/closed up before. I have never seen a case of zoa pox on here. Get the nudis before they cause a big problem. Then worry about the aptasia.

    Slugs

They are really cute. let me know if they multiply i would be interested
  21. I don't run it that high because running at 9s gives me time to catch the alk slowly raising or lowering and allows me time to fix the issue. a lot of websites have suggest alk levels of 8-12dkh so an every day test at 12 would be ok. It would be risky not smart choice though because if it raises much higher there will be issues. One alk reading of 12 doesn't mean much to me. A graph of all alk readings at random times over months means more because corals hate the fluctuation. If the only thing you are doing is water changes I would like to know how large the water change is and I would do an alk check after. I feel smaller more often water changes are more appropriate because the alk,PH temp etc won't spike. There are 1000 more factors that can cause issues. LEDs were my first issue (learning curve). They were brand new and I had them cranked up. LPS doesn't like fried. It also could be improper/faulty test kits, a brand new coral with acclimation issues etc but I don't want to get off the subject
  22. Did it really just change color from black to white?!
  23. What supplements/dosing are you putting in tank? Read ingredients carefully sometimes they slip some in without saying on front label. As a side note I don't think 12dkh is causing the problem as I used to run my system that high because Red Sea test kits told me to and I didn't lose LPS
  24. Welcome! No RSVP just show up and they check you In when you walk in. . Best bet on LPS where you are located is exotic reef creations. www.exoticreefcreations.com it's best to drive up and see what he has in person though. If you like bird nests I'm your best bet lol.
  25. We have decent encrustations on both pieces so they seem to be out of the woods and taking to the tank. The last picture is of the fresh cut healed and growing a new stick. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
