  1. I would move the refuge pipe over the baffle and not right next to the skimmer. You should leave as much room for pulling the skimmer out as possible.
  2. Here is a nice one that just started to take off. Not a named piece but definitely nice colors.
  3. Yea the tanks where it grows like a weed always have my attention. Well it grows fine for me too if I think about it, just dies from some random blip.
  4. Welcome to the random red dragon rtn club! I am always blown away by large massive colonies of this coral because I have seen so many just go for no reason.
  5. What size tank is this? You running a halide over it? Good to see you still keeping a tank going, looking forward to seeing those acros grow!
  6. Ben, you have so much awesome lps and softies and have such a good eye for nice corals. It’s sad you don’t have a great selection of acropora to go with it! Bump for more crazy lps.
  7. I remember my wife brought me to a meeting over a decade ago it feels like where you were giving a talk about how to make your own rocks and hang on back refuge and all that good stuff. Honestly it got me inspired and part of what got me dig into the hobby.
  8. One reason I kept my Rubbermaid instead of buying a tank. I have rocks stacked along the bottom 1/3 of the tank and the fish love all the hiding areas. And I love the fact that I can place acropora on every side of the tank and not worry about blocking views since the only view is from the top Only issue is the big foxface that I may have to remove at some point...
  9. I ran my tank temp that low for a while and it did great. I would love to come see those colonies whenever this virus stuff calms down! I would love to buy some nice chunky cuts if you ever need to trim.
  10. Beautiful acro colonies you have in there by the way. I would clean the whole tanks outside and find exactly where the leak is coming from.
  11. I try not to provide any areas that the sps won’t like and try and mount things so they won’t grow into the flow. Different species grow different ways so it’s really all species specific and comes down to how the flow is setup in the tank. I like to create turbulent flow with a lot of powerheads so the corals don’t start to lean one way or the other. If an acro grows into lower light then it’s going to be happy there. They won’t grow into lower light unless they prefer it or can survive it and just have no other way to grow. What you have to worry about is corals growing and taking up other corals light and or flow. That’s the hard part once you have large colonies all over the tank.
  12. Man I have enjoyed keeping coral in the tub much more than in tanks. Only bad part is frags falling in the rocks and getting lost but I just won’t buy small frags anymore. I will try and find time for a top down pic but it’s hard with the halides on. Lights are hung maybe 15” from the waterline in the tub to the bottom of the reflector. I am curious how much par I am getting as well. Two 250w radiums and four or2 bars I would hope would put out more than enough. best part about the tank is I can put corals all along the sides of the tank since there is no glass. I have most stags close to the edge and the other corals scattered in the middle. Should look cool if I can grow them big.
  13. Awesome! Did you get the pro bar from them or the lower wattage bar? The pro bar was awesome but cheaply made and got to hot leading to longevity issues for me. I wondered how much longer the lower wattage ones would last and would bet they are a much better product for applications like this.
  14. Also in that newer pic that yellow digi looks much more like how I am used to seeing them. Did your nutrients go up or is it just the camera making it look a different color?
  15. Yea that’s not even a stag then, I like thoes digitate acros even more than stags! I got a nice Aussie neon green one in my tank too. Hope it takes off like yours. Can you get a close up of it?
  16. Or Rosaria actually looks a little closer
  17. Looking good for sure! That coraline was nuts! I think not looking in your tank everyday actually helps the tank because your not putting your hands in it or thinking about moving pieces. That’s one of the reasons I kept my Rubbermaid as my tank really. I look in it maybe once a week and actually notice growth and or color changes much easier now. I hope I can get out there and see the tank in person soon.
  18. Dude the tank looks amazing with the rock close to the back like that! I did it completely different when I had this tank and I really regretted the space I didn’t have. The open room is perfect for letting stuff grow out! Let me know when you want some frags and I will make You a bunch of fresh cuts.
  19. Mind blowing! I can not believe how well things have done with that light! I wonder how much par your getting from it? You should share this on reef2reef in the sps forum. People would love it!
  20. Aww man Fowler? No fun! Either way it’s not hard to jump back in! I could have saved you some time and told you not to do the freshwater stuff got any pics of the tank while it had freshwater fish?
  21. Man, it’s looking good! I like the thick green stag on the left. I hope things are growing well!
  22. Aww man I was hoping the tool pic would be of the scraper you used to clean your glass
  23. Looking good! I know when I set up my cube I regretted not leaving more room for corals to grow. I put too much rock in it, yours looks much better like you should have some room. I would make it easy to pull one or two rocks out later on if possible.
