  1. Looks like acropora loripes to me but I could be wrong, a better pic would help confirm.
  2. I haven’t been able to keep it attached to the rockwork too well so it’s been bounced around a lot. I just now got done mounting everything and forgot that piece :( I will have to glue it and see what it does. The picture looks like just a green mille. Sunset will get orange tips and the asd piece will get lots of orange in the branches. I haven’t really even looked at the color of it in a while but will report back once I get it settled in one spot.
  3. Is this the same one I bought from you as asd rainbow?
  4. There are to many variables with led to say x will work in any situation. I would research a lot about how people light similar sized tanks. Eric’s tank is large and he only uses a few fixtures to light it. For what it’s worth the best sps tanks I have seen have their fixtures hung high enough to run them with whites at or near 100% and they have close to twice the manufacturers recommended amount of fixtures. These are acropora dominated tanks and if your just doing simple easy sps corals you can probably get away with a lot less, especially with four t5 along side them. I run my four orpek bars which I use alongside my two halides for 12 hours and my halides for 7.
  5. There are also snail eating flatworms that get huge and look like that. But they get huge like 1”, the babies though will look like large aefw or eefw.
  6. Looks good! How many horses are you thinking about keeping in there? We also kept the little pigmy indo seahorses that are tiny as an be, those were my favorite but I think maybe they were hard to find this time around.
  7. There was for the past few years. They just started shipping again. That’s why torch prices skyrocketed.
  8. I am running four bars along side my two halides. I love them now that I figured out the ballasts can’t touch and the fixtures can’t touch anything either. I kept having flickering issues and no one could tell me what was going on until finally I figured it out on my own while in the middle of slow emails back and fourth with with orpek. My bars were touching the halide reflectors when the fan was running since I have them all hung from cables.
  9. Wow good news with the bad! I am so glad you will be helping start Tongan cultures! I would love to hear more about this and Am excited to see how it turns out!
  10. Just wait for indo to start shipping some nice lps, I believe they should have a few yellow lps and lots of yellow acropora.
  11. They have some awesome corals that I hope start coming in. Really cool thick acropora species.
  12. Awesome! I setup a little 5 gallon that my wife is keeping some tiny seahorses in. What horses are you going with?
  13. So everything transferred over well? What’s the tank look like now?
  14. Low oxygen in the water maybe? How many powerheads do you have in what size tank and are you running a skimmer? Mag needs to be super high to mess with snails most salt mixes aren’t above 1600.
  15. Looks like they would be nice red plates in our tanks. It is sad to see so much dead coral and no small fish that’s for sure. How did the fish population look on the reef? The pics seem like not many out there. I wonder how much longer thoes acropora colonies will last.
  16. Wow that’s good to know, I thought that a standard is easy to make? How are these big companies messing it up so bad? I am wondering if this is what caused me all my pain a few years ago. Just one reason I like my digital one that I can use to water to calibrate successfully.
  17. When your tank is all your thinking about, even at work, then it’s time to just take a step back. Really as long as things are stable, not touching things is the main thing that makes tanks run best.
  18. Beautiful tank! i like the orpek bars, made so well.
  19. I think they are the same thing basically just rebranded, from what I heard. I have the milwaukee ma871.
  20. Yea i has to hold off for a while too. But variations between refractometers results and swings on the same test water were killing me! Finally I just got one and don’t bother testing with any second test for verification like I was before. I just double check it with regant sometimes and if it’s a point off or right on I am ok with it.
  21. Also the glass on the refractometer can become loose or bad. Had a friend who crashed a 300 gallon because his glass was old and corroded Around the seal from use. Like said above only use 35 ppt calibration fluid and I even buy it every year because it would go bad eventually from use. Also calibrate everytime you use it. I moved to using a digital one so I could use rodi. It’s much easier although I still don’t trust it fully...
  22. I would use the t5 Fixture with two Kessils and don’t mount the kessils close to the tank. Best acro tanks I have seen had the leds higher up at 100%.
