  1. +1 on checking the RODI. It's possible those contaminates from the ICP test are coming from your water source and getting though your RODI unit. Also make sure you're using a salt with similar parameters to what you're trying to achieve in your tank. You mentioned that you used to run Alk higher and have since been shooting for lower levels. If your salt's parameters aren't similar to your tank's parameters you'll be getting swings every time you do your water changes. I know salts like
  2. Great photos, thanks for sharing! @NamReefs the tank looks awesome! I need to buy some frags from you soon so I can see this in person
  3. @pizzaguy @epleeds Thank you both for the quick response! That seems to cut the price in half and then some
  4. Hey Wamas, I have never shipped coral before and want to ship by buddy some frags from DC to Austin, TX. I made a FedEx account and as I'm looking into the Priority Overnight rates, it seems like $100 is the cheapest rate I can find. On reef4reef I commonly see people quoting $50 for shipping so I'm thinking I may be doing something wrong. Does anyone have some insight on this matter? Thanks in advance!
  5. Hey everyone, I have a pretty large bubble coral that I'm looking to frag but wanted to see if other people on here have had success doing so. My game plan is to use Dremel with a diamond wheel to make the cut, dip it in Lugols, then back in the tank. Is there a better way to go about that and anything I should be wary of? Thanks in advance!
  6. Thanks for all your help over the years Rob! Best of luck with everything!
  7. If I can't find what I'm looking for at a LFS, I've had good experience with LiveAquaria Diver's Den. Their regular fish selection are not quarantined and I've head negative reviews about it, but their Diver's Den items are and I've never had a bad experience with them.
  8. Has anyone had success getting rid of this stuff? A couple months ago I started dosing Vibrant to get rid of bubble algae which worked well, but then this red turf algae popped up. I've read through some reef2reef forums and have seen a lot of mixed solutions. Everything from adding a few turbos and urchins, to GFO, to hydrogen peroxide. I've seen some people say that they've dropped their nutrients virtually to 0 and their corals started dying before the algae. Removing my rocks isn't really an option at this point so I'm interested to hear what other people have found success with.
  9. Hey Wamas, Anyone know what kind of mushroom this is? It's pretty big, about 8 inches across. My thought is a hairy rhodactis but that's just a guess. Thanks!
  10. My brother is big into 3D printing and I want to commission him to make me similar things. What 3D printing materials are reef safe or best for use inside of the tank. He commonly prints with PLA, PETG, PET, ABS, and Nylon. Thanks!
  11. About 8 months ago I upgraded to a larger tank and took on the challenge of converting into an SPS dominated tank, and have had great success so far. I've absorbed a ton of information about sps husbandry along the way, but I have a question about their ability to control their growth. To what extent can they avoid growing into unfavorable conditions? (e.i. growing inches away from direct flow from power heads or return pumps, growing into area of low light, etc.) In your experience, do you find it better to frag the coral once you see it moving towards those situations or let the coral grow how it wants to?
  12. Recently picked up a rainbow acan from Nam and it looks great! He was super friendly and had a lot of awesome coral that I'll be back for. Keep up the good work!
