  2. http://saltaquarium.about.com/od/diychillerplans/ss/sbsdiychiller.htm This link and several others I looked at suggested 3/8 hard plastic tubing as vinyl tubing is not a good choice for this application as Dave stated in his post.
  3. Very nice DIY, should also help for people who have "jumpers" in their tanks. How big are the squares? Are they small enough to stop smaller fish such as firefish, etc from getting through?
  4. Doug, If you can push it back to around 7pm after I get home from work(around 6:30) I can help you. Kevin
  5. That brings to mind Johnny's recent issues with his thumb... I think the skivvies would be a BAD idea But I do agree with Rob, if we outlaw these corals then only one group will have them. I also agree with the ban and forcing the aquaculture program.
  6. Normally I might consider that bet, but beings my parents live in Danville and it was snowing there already @ 2pm, I'm going to wait it out and see.

  8. I couldn't agree with you more... except I have to work the whole day being a contractor in order to get as many hours as possible, I'm already losing 8 for Christmas. So if it could hold off until say 6:00pm on 12/24, that would work quite nicely into my holiday images and plans.

  10. Seriously, I hope you get better quickly and that is a very good lesson for all of us to take heed of. I never think about all the little nicks and cuts I get when handling the rock and what not in the tank... with my other health issues, that kind of cut/infection is probably the last thing I need. Thanks for sharing and the warning Johnny
  11. I'm with Dave (Mogurnda), after all the issues I have with u-tube overflow boxes, drill the back, rig a durso and run. If I was brave enough to drill my tank in place I'd be doing it... but I'm not that brave. When I switch to the 4' 150g it's goin to be drilled and set up prior to putting it in place.
  12. Great article, wish I wasn't running sandless.
  13. That looks more like a purple tube anemone, but I'm not an expert.
  14. Keep us posted, that's a big savings, kalk still scares the heck out of me with all the accident stories.
  15. Opps managed to hit reply twice.
  16. I never had a problem with my dwarf golden moray, he was the greatest. I could hand feed him and it was one of the most enjoyable things to watch him move about the tank. He is one of my greatest losses from the tank crash back in August.I fed him every 2-3 days and he was always content, but I had no small fish the size of helfrichis in the tank. Smallest fish in the tank was my Dilectus Pseudochromis whom I also miss as he was one of the last fish I got from Aquaco before it closed.
  17. It will be fine in time, I had a similar problem, placed some frogspawn a bit too close to an orange digi. The frogspawn stung the heck out of the tips and turned them white, but now they are well on their way to recovering.
  18. Very sad to see indeed, sorry for your loss Doug I know what it was like coming home to a dead tank.
  19. Not quite everyone, I agree times are hard, and I am one of those that has really felt the crunch. But everyone in this club has been supportive and helped with advice, etc when my system crashed back in August and prior to that. The concept of taking something someone has either given me or sold to me inexpensively to try and help me out and reselling it for a profit is appalling. Maybe I'm just a little too old fashioned, I don't know, but what's given to me stays with me at least until it has grown out to a point that I have to frag it to make room. Even then if it was something that was given to me, I'm passing it along the same way. Yeah it is idealistic and there are those that disagree with me, but I'd rather propagate stuff and share it and maybe see one less wild caught coral get purchased.
  20. I can make some phone calls regarding the curse if you like I'd offer to give you a hand with the tanks but Centreville is a long way from you.
  21. Sorry Johnny, I wasn't really sure how to vote on this one. Having been in retail I understand the need for longer hours to help the customer, but understand the shorter hours because often longer hours are not cost effective. Being one of the above mentioned commuters, I get on a bus at 6:30am and don't see my house again until about 6:15pm, so the odds on me getting to you are slim and none during the week without extended hours.
  22. I have read that Raccoon Butterflies will/can be trained to majanos, I also had a lunare wrasse that took to eating them. Unfortunately Lunare's aren't exactly reef safe though mine never bothered coral. I was in the middle of trying the butterfly experiment back in August when the tank crashed.
  23. I did, gotta wait to put pics up though my tang trio & blenny cleaning crew are doing a great job on hair algae removal. Once that's done then I'll fix the aquascaping and take some shots. Still going to be a while before I do much adding to the tank though.
