  1. Local hardware store, maybe harder to find down near the city. I got 3 baffles cut and it cost me less then 10 bucks
  2. Is that LFS store in Hancock still open, Neptunes (something or other) it was called? Been well over a year since I was in there. Sadly with my little tank theres not much to trade or sell from it. But Ive got plenty of chaeto or halimeda if you ever want some.
  3. You can add any amount of whatever you wish. It really just depends on what you want your fish to have more of. If you had lots of tangs for instance I would add more nori and vegetable matter. For carnivorous fish, more meaty stuff like shrimp clam, squid.... Where in western MD are you from? Hagerstown here myself, not too many of us out this way.
  4. You will be fine having the fixture that high, with a shallow frag tank theres not as much water for the light to penetrate, so you will get better PAR compared to a "normal tank". I keep my t5 fixture on my DT about 8 inches above the waterline with no problems.
  5. I am always amused when someone askes if it is ok to keep newly mixed water in a container with a pump and or heater for a prolonged period of time. How is it any different then that big glass box with all your fishes in it? Does that water go bad? IMO as long as you have movement its ok to have it in an unsealed container.
  6. Wait till you move here, the power outages arent any better
  7. Or your 72 gallon display could do that at 4 in the morning lol
  8. The easiest method is to place a piece of tile in the tank at the place where they place their eggs. Then before they hatch all you have to do is remove the tile. Since this is their first time they may not have eggs regularly yet, keep an eye on the spot and see if they do it again, it will typically be every 2-4 weeks.
  9. how much is the phosban media tumbling? If it tumbles too vigorously it can produce very fine particles which will end up in the water column.
  10. How are your 3 clowns behavior with one another? Generally speaking you should only keep 2, a female and a male, but its possible to keep more if they get along. 2 of your looks to be on the smaller side so they may still be juveniles which means they should be peaceful with one another.
  11. It always great to see younger kids interested in the hobby, I wish I had started sooner. Good job with your tank so far, hope the upgrade to the 40 goes well and will be the first of many more upgrades to come. You should upgrade your membership to a student member, its free for students and it gives you access to alot more of the website. I cant remeber if BB members can send PMs or not, but if you can send a message to Tom, screenname Origami2547, he is the membership director and get you set up with the student membership.
  12. I just noticed the pic of your sump with the heater. Looks like the heater is out of the water a good bit. I know those ehiem jager heaters can be fully submerged, but Im not sure about a minimum water water level. To me it looks like too much is out of the water.
  13. Older thread but someone brought it up again a few months ago http://www.wamas.org/forums/topic/17242-coral-warwho-wins-list/
  14. can you isolate the rock so that it cant grow onto other pieces? Acans may keep it in check
  15. wow, 40 bucks for 1/2" red monti cap? I know Im cheap but dang
