  1. Excellent points! Figure out who is your intended audience then work from there. Personally, I think since it is created by us, it should be intended for us. But that in no ways means that it can't be used as a marketing tool. The random LFS customer might find our articles and information interesting which would lead them to the site. You could always use eye catching article titles like: Vodka Dosing, its no longer a Fraternity thing: Who's down with LED, yeah you know me: Is the window open, or did I go Barebottom: Water Changes, the thing to do when cable is out: I saw my neighbor's Wrasse the other day Sorry, i'm feeling stupid tonight.
  2. - Meeting notes from the last meeting plans for the future meetings. - Calendar with reef events MACNA local events like social's or tank tours. - How about some club statistics like: New Board Members New Paid Members Total Members Total Posts for certain sections (or something similar that shows board statistics)
  3. Don't blame the messenger: The reason they are at a higher priced is because they are True Green People Eaters, in that they have the blue ring around the green mouth. Most will show you a green oral disc without the blue inner circle and call it a green people eater, but much like the True RPE the blue ring is what makes them higher class. $25 per polyp is probably towards the higher end of the spectrum for those, but not unheard of.
  4. Could it be brown plate coralline algae? Or is it pliable making it a plant type algae? http://www.aquariumarts.com/brownplatecoralline.html
  5. I love that last pic! So what tank footprint does your 4 x 6 array cover?
  6. Very nice. I put my guess into the contest as well, but your name is definitely much better. Shoot some pics when you get the chance.
  7. Looks nice! Not sure on the lighting but I am eager to see what you come up with. Good luck
  8. Bumble bee shrimps are supposed to take care of them, cost less, and can be kept without having to feed starfish once the plague is eradicated. http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_di...amp;pcatid=1969

  10. Nice perc, it looks like he is in a snow globe
  11. You may want to look through some of the Solana threads on RC and Nano-Reef. The top off unit at the back is configured to work in that upside down bottle format. Sorry, not much info in my post
  12. I have to admit, these are the first feeding pics I have ever seen of these things. Looks crazy!
  13. http://www.marinebreeder.org/phpbb/index.php I don't have any personal experience but the link above should provide some insight into a new adventure. Good luck
  14. They are several types of Asterina and I have some in my tank right now that aren't a problem. But, in the past I've had to peel them off my RPEs because they would wrap themselves around a polyp and feast on them. When I pulled it off the skin of the RPE had a dark mark on it right where the mouth of the asterina was located. After doing this a few times I made it a regular thing to check my frags and under the plugs for Asterinas. Do what you will with them, but if I could get rid of all the ones in my tank I would. To me saying that they just eat "sick an dying" zoanthids is just not true and an easy way to dismiss something that you haven't experienced. The following is from Who Dah on the Reef2Reef link below http://www.reef2reef.com/forums/f14/asteri...html#post122223 http://www.zoaid.com/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=1426 http://reefkeeping.com/joomla/index.php/cu...eefkeeping-101- http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthre...hlight=asterina
  15. Actually you can frag them: http://www.seareef.com/Forums/showthread.php?t=997
  16. I had to purchase one of these for my fixture (that one went bad eventually as well) and they are stupidly expensive for a fan, but here is a link to the marine depot site: http://www.marinedepot.com/2_inch_Current_...TACAF-1-vi.html I ended up using a DC fan and just zip tied it to the outside of my current fixture. Now I can replace it whenever needed, but if you have kids you probably don't want a fan running out in the open like that. Good luck
  17. Do you consider it cruel if they use a needle to inject dye into the fish? Since I'm about to kill a crab I was just curious what everyone's thoughts were

  20. You can't outbid yourself on ebay, it will just raise your maximum bid. You would think if a coral got above $1,500 you would get free shipping
  21. I have no idea if this makes any differences or not, but if you use an acrylic stand which has a flat face, won't it change the flow in your sump? You may be better off using an eggcrate stand because the slots will allow the water to flow through it. Keep in mind this is just food for thought and not a warning. Good luck
  22. We've met before so you know I'm not a mean guy, but where are you doing your research? Here's an idea on how to catch him. Get a plastic bottle with a wide mouth like a gatorade bottle. Tie a fishing line or nylon string to the mouth and punch some holes in the bottle. Put a crab in the bottle and drop it in front of the lobster's area. Once he goes in (which may take a while) pull up on the string and fish him out. If you want to take it a step further you could cut halfway down the curve at the top of the bottle and invert the mouth so it points in and creates a plastic bottle trap. Good luck!
  23. Tile would be a good alternative, and may also provide you with some extra trading capacity once they grow on them.
  24. Great write up here: http://glassbox-design.com/2009/5-high-per...-back-skimmers/
