  1. Did you add the salt directly to the tank? Do you have a refractometer?
  2. Those tiny dots with legs are probably copepods. Check this page, I think they are the second one on the top list http://melevsreef.com/id/pods.html . Copepods are a good thing. In terms of the xenia I really don't know, sorry.
  3. Luce = Nickname for Luciano neck= When I was new in the hobby I thought I was sticking my neck out in a reef tank.
  4. Nice looking tank! I have to make it into town to see your tank one day.
  5. My parents live near Aquarium One so whenever I visit them I follow up my trip with a visit to this LFS. I've picked up three items from them with all of them doing well. First buy: a small cleaner shrimp which has gotten big and healthy in my tank. Good buy! Second buy: A rainford's goby. This guy was healthy and plump in the store and did not take long to adjust to my tank. He keeps himself happy sifting through my sand for critters. In the back ground of this pic: Third buy: I really needed something to take care of my amphipod issue and a pygmy angel was the answer. I was looking for a cherub when I went in there, but a flameback caught my attention. This guy took 24hrs to get adjusted to my tank and now feeds off of mysis and pellets! Can't go wrong with that! Conclusion. Aquarium one is a small store but they carry some nice items there, and the wamas discount is really nice!
  6. You could use the same technique people use to get rid of aiptasia. Inject them with kalk paste.
  7. Looks very familiar!!! In all seriousness the colors and openness of the structure would suggest a tropical country. Something in the Bahamas?
  8. Tim beat me to the post, but when people on RC were making these lunarhoochies they used the solar tube mentioned above. You can even find solar tube at HD.... or was it Lowes? Look in the skylight area for it. I purchased it one time, but realized that I wasn't going to do anything with it and returned it. Good luck you to everyone.
  9. This site isn't going to be cheap but they carry it all year. www.twopartsolution.com
  10. Yeah, I don't like them either. They look horrible, even in a frag tank. It is really tough to get zoanthids off of them, and supposedly they don't really grip the eggcrate well under high flow. That being said, they do have very good feedback when it comes to mounting softies.
  11. I warn people all the time about using GE silicone. The tube I used did not have any indication on the label that it had the mold inhibitor in it, but my aquarium quickly let me know that it did. I lost a lot of corals/fish/snails because I wanted to save $2 on a tube of silicone. It's not worth it in my book, but I guess I can't stop you.
  12. Some pics of anemones I have owned in the past:
  13. I probably have the most ghetto HOB around. It is a 20g elevated above my 50g. The overflow has a minijet that pumps into the 20g, which then gravity feeds back into the 50g. Overlook the fans, I had a heating issue today. Overflow at the top, return at the bottom.
  14. Nice ID Bob. I would agree that they are spirorbid worms. Keep in min that they will range from the size of a pencil tip to the size of pencil eraser. Here is a pic to help you with an id:
  15. Trust me they eat healthy zoas too. Especially the stars with more legs. They primarily enjoying eating palys and Zoanthus grandis (PE type) that are on your rocks, but will go after the smaller zoanthids. Best way to tell is to check the tank a few hours after the lights have gone off.
  16. Sorry for all the dumb questions the other night :D Subject: Bubble and other algae Location: Display tank. (no longer setup) When: April 2007 Photographer: Luciano - Luceneck Camera: Sony DSC-P200 Settings: Auto
  17. So the last day is Monday the 23rd of April.
  18. 2 questions. 1). Is the 30th of April the last day to send in pics? 2). Is the prize really a 1 year membership? I've got more algae pics than non algae pics! :( Instead of giving the winner a free year, you should give them the ability to take away someone else's membership!
  19. Sorry to hear about your H-E-double hocky sticks zoa issue. I got shot in the eye one time and it turned my eye gumball red and I had some slight swelling around the eye. Dr gave me some Pink Eye medication, but it went away in 2 weeks. Good luck and hopefully it will go away shortly. Since that incident I take precautions when fragging.

  21. Name/BB Name: Luciano Gomes (luceneck) Camera: Sony DSC-P200 (point and shoot, can you tell.. I suck at focusing. ) Shutter Speed: Aperture: Focal Length: 105mm ISO: 200 (I think) Location of picture: 50g Mixed Reef tank Subject description: This blenny comes up to the tank wall every time I approach the tank. Unfortunately it causes my zoas to close up.
  22. Since this contest is zoanthid related I just wanted to give everybody a heads up on another site running a pic contest. Winner gets $100+ ..... Club-Zoa Photo Contest - 2007
  23. You could make it even easier by using some eggcrate. Just cut out a space in the eggcrate to hold the fan and superglue the PC fan in there. Total cost would be $0 if you have a PC fan, eggcrate, and superglue (like I do). BTW if you wanted to make sure that your eggcrate would stay in place the make some small legs to come down the side of the tank. Keeping the eggcrate from moving. I don't think what I wrote makes sense? Does it?
  24. Do you have a table or miter saw? I have a heat gun and can get some acrylic for cheap. At ACME Plastics in Alexandria you can get scrap acrylic by the pound. Including thick/thin, clear/black/reflective, and larger pieces. I used a miter saw and a heat gun to make an overflow in my tank. If you have the tools we can find a way. Luciano
  25. I had a 250w DE MH setup over my 20g and now have a 5x39w aquactinics setup (suggest by grimreefer) over my 50g. I've been very happy with the setup and have seen great growth in my tank. Keep in mind that I can not argue good versus bad because I have a limited SPS experience but if someone were to ask me "Would you go MH or T5 for your new tank?", the answer would be simple. T5! I like the ability to change the look with different bulbs and things have done really well since the adjustment period. Growth pics: Pic taken 1/26/07 Pic taken 2/16/07 Like I said, I'm not an expert just someone who found something that works for him.
