  1. I got one several years back and I wish I hadn't. The one I got started eating flatworms within 5 minutes, but it could not stay in one location very long. The flow in the tank would lift it up and blow it around the tank until it eventually got sucked up by the powerhead. Looking back at that mistake, the only way I could have kept it long term was to reduce my flow down as low as possible to almost nothing. Keep in mind that while these slugs will eat flatworms they will never be able to get all of them so the FW will come back. The only way to get rid of FW is to kill them all at once and the only way to ensure that is to treat the entire tank at once. I would recommend a chemical treatment over a specialized hunter.
  2. The first step to a rainfords goby is making sure you didn't get one with a pinched stomach. If that was OK than if you have a decent sized sandbed with medium to small (not crushed coral) grains you should be fine. The smaller size because they will scoop up a mouth full and filter out their prey before shooting the sand out their gill openings. I don't think they are as interested in the algae as the other small critters that feed/live within the algae. I've had two in the past and one did great for over a year without ever feeding off anything I tossed into the tank. The second did not eat very well and I suspect that it was already declining by the time I got it.

  8. I really like the tank dimensions. This is going to be great! Why did you decide to use a pump to feed the refugium vs an baffle (overflow)? I would think that using a pump adds more risk to issues like pump failure, keeping skimmer compartment water level stable, and flooding during power outages. Just curious.
  9. You could try placing a mirror at the opposite end of the tank that you are working in. It may not distract the clown the entire time, but it may decrease their interest in your hand.
