Origami December 16, 2012 December 16, 2012 I've heard of mixing the paint but, like you, never had them mess up a batch mix. I guess it's bound to happen sooner or later. The build is looking great! (Sent from my phone)
zygote2k December 16, 2012 December 16, 2012 looks great. I hope those fish appreciate the difference from their previous surroundings.
Sharkey18 December 16, 2012 December 16, 2012 Wow. Looks spectacular. How is it you start a year after me and and end up a year ahead of me?
smallreef December 16, 2012 December 16, 2012 I love your rock work! (I too have had paint problems in the past...mainly from the stores tint machine being low and now one adding more pigment...mixes badly when not full)
Coral Hind December 16, 2012 Author December 16, 2012 Wow. Looks spectacular. How is it you start a year after me and and end up a year ahead of me? Well you do have the excuse that a tree fell on your house. .
Ryan S December 17, 2012 December 17, 2012 Looks awesome. Love the non-blue or black background and the rockwork especially.
Sharkey18 December 17, 2012 December 17, 2012 The background looks light blue. Did you use white poly cardboard and paint it or is that just reflection from the water? It looks awesome. Also, no powerheads or are they all beautifully hidden?
Coral Hind December 17, 2012 Author December 17, 2012 It is all white poly that is held up with velcro but it does pick up some blue from the lights. No there are no power heads, just the Dart return via the 1 1/2" pipe in the back right corner. The two 2" drains are on the left side.
Incredible Corals December 17, 2012 December 17, 2012 I just noticed the background color. It makes it look so clean. I have to take that idea for something I have planned
Coral Hind December 18, 2012 Author December 18, 2012 looks great. I hope those fish appreciate the difference from their previous surroundings. I sure hope so too. Most of the fish seem to have adjusted very well but the picasso trigger seems to hide a lot. I've never had such a shy trigger before but I guess that is better then an aggressive trigger. My big ASM G-6x skimmer uses two Sedra 15000 pumps and it dumps out a good bit of mirco bubbles which were making their way into the display tank. Yesterday I ran the output of the skimmer into the bio ball tower which really helped to reduced the noise and stopped the mirco bubbles. I'm sure that helps process the water again as it goes over the bio balls.
BowieReefer84 December 21, 2012 December 21, 2012 Tank is awesome. Check out this fish http://www.liveaquaria.com/diversden/itemdisplay.cfm?c=2733+3&ddid=174362&ref=4282&subref=AI&cmpid=E-_-TR-_-DDN-_-PRDCT
Coral Hind December 21, 2012 Author December 21, 2012 That is a pretty cool fish. I doubt there are many of them in a home aquarium. I did grab the polleni grouper that was on sale at diver's den yesterday. I plan to add that at the same time as the miniatus grouper I got from Aquarium One.
mogurnda December 21, 2012 December 21, 2012 That is a totally amazing tank. In my dreams, I would love to do something like that, but you did it better.
dmatt56 December 22, 2012 December 22, 2012 Whenever I see someone selling a big fish I thing about your new tank, Dave. I realize it's not a saltwater pond, but 600 gallons is still a good size tank! I can't wait to see this in person.
zygote2k December 22, 2012 December 22, 2012 I saw another cool fish for your tank- Blue Devil Grouper.
Coral Hind December 22, 2012 Author December 22, 2012 I have always wanted one of those!! They don't seem to show up much and when one does it is close to $500.
Steve175 December 30, 2012 December 30, 2012 Friggin' awesome! To have a set big enough to unload, transport, and place a tank that large by yourself must make it difficult to walk. "How did 1500G of saltwater cost THAT much?"
Coral Hind December 30, 2012 Author December 30, 2012 That's funny, thanks! Here are some pictures of two Harlequins I added last week. First is a 4 1/2" Harlequin Hind or Polleni Grouper And, a 7" Australian Harlequin Tusk.
Sharkey18 December 30, 2012 December 30, 2012 Those are some sweet fish. The tusk is a bit scary though.
Jan December 30, 2012 December 30, 2012 WOW!!! Scary & Gorgeous. I've got food for them. Big chunks of meaty food.
ChrisTran December 30, 2012 December 30, 2012 Saw the tank in person yesterday and it's the largest in-wall tank i've ever seen. Great job and thank you for drilling my tank.
GraffitiSpotCorals December 30, 2012 December 30, 2012 Man I have to say that everything is beautiful, rocks, tank, and the tusk picture is awesome! I dream of having space for a tank like that.
