  1. They were going strong a few days ago. I can't see how they would ever close...money flows through that place like gas through an American car. It seems like every time I go there I have to wait for a guy in front of me buying boxes and boxes of stuff.
  2. I've been pretty happy with a cheapo (I think it was $139, I guess that is a decent chunk of change, but cheap for a dehumidifier) dehumidifier in my basement I bought at Lowe's or Home Depot a few years ago. I have it plumbed to my sink drain so I don't have to empty it. I turn it off in the winter time.
  3. I would call Roozen's (they had the hands down cheapest price on Oceanic 125 RR when I bought mine several years ago). I called everyone. Also, as much as I dislike their service and livestock, I have bought a few tanks from SuperPetz. I would call them also. Also, Wally's sometimes has surprising prices. I would call them, too.
  4. +1 A lot of words written here so far, but where is the content?
  5. +1, I saw a ton of acrylic tubes when I was there recently
  6. I have bought crayfish at a fish store in DC for my mantis. They cost like $2, and they have a variety of sizes, including some really big ones. If you want, I can look up the address, but it is a long way for you.
  7. mmm...cheeeeese baaaalls...
  8. Very cool fish. I recall a year or 2 ago, someone else here had bought one, I think it was dzekunoi...wonder how hers did? Edit: here are Inna's threads LINK LINK2
  9. Dave is the one who feeds his mantis live fish (when will we see a video of that?)...neither of mine mine has never eaten one (live or dead)! Mine prefer crustaceans and fingers.
  10. This reminds me of that upside-down fish tank someone posted a youtube video to a while back. I think it was this one:
  11. Ah well that is good. I guess the last time I threatened to drop my mantis shrimp down his pants if I saw him doing it again musta worked.
  12. So sorry man. Seeing a picture like that is painful.
  13. I wonder if it is the guy who has been making a business out of doing this type of thing for years.
  14. THESE are a lot cheaper, and don't rely on any sensors that can fail (although I do agree that the optical sensor on the tunze is enormously better than float switches/sensors...those things are just a flood waiting to happen...which is why people usually have more than 1. Personally, I don't like the concept of solving the problem of unreliable parts by adding more of the exact same unreliable part...I've heard enough stories of floods from people who had that "back-up"....)
  15. You never know...the last time I needed stitches was specifically from working on my tank...
  16. Roozen's is the only LFS that regularly carries them. I would just check back or call in a couple weeks. I bought both of mine there. I have also seen a nice one two times at Petland. You could give them a call.
  17. I use those short (like 1 foot or less) extension cords. It can get a bit "busy".
  18. I'll never understand why you all mess with all those switches and sensors... 1 peristaltic pump. Some tubing. A timer. Done. 6 years, never had a problem...keep 50 or more gallons in my ATO reservoir at all times.
  19. Anything you plug in the wall will make more heat than cold (the ol' thermodynamics stuff). Including air conditioners. That is why A/C have to be connected to the outside (to put the "more hot than cold" they generate outside the house). Something big like a chiller that uses a lot of energy (and is rated in HP!) is going to make a lot of heat.
  20. They both have problems. The wife has more of the typical loud, arrogant bad attitude. The husband has more of a creepy, look at you from the corner of his eye, and "never want to help you because he is too good to" type problem. SuperPetz SW stuff has always been a joke. Ever look at their LR or the big tank (180?) right above the LR? They stay in business with dry goods, dog, cat, etc.
  21. Coral.
  22. I'm not sure what caused mine to break...maybe the constant large amount of flow/pressure. Possibly me hitting it with the LR or skimmer. Possibly the 10" DSB in the middle. Dunno! I never actually noticed it break. Since it is only a 10G, and easily re-done, I'd just wait and see what happens. I don't think there is much danger from small shards of glass getting in your equipment, mine broke into big pieces, and the big pieces still stuck there from all the silicone until I removed them.
