  1. I had actually intended to pull my hand out at the last second and put text on the video that said "yeah, right!". But alas, I was too slow.
  2. I started thinking it was funny as soon as I watched the video. I'm amazed I managed to catch it all on film.
  3. It did indeed.
  4. Here is a video of my chiragra attacking the extremely thin 2.5G glass:
  5. I kept a big-ish chiragra (the hardest hitting one there is) in a 2.5 glass tank, and watched him hit the tiny, tiny glass hundreds of times. While I do believe there have been cases where they have broken glass, I don't think there is any worry about it at all (and certainly not unless you have something that is getting close to a foot long in any case)
  6. Been discussed several times. Here is a link about stealths that link to other posts: LINK Personally, I can think of a lot of uses for stealth heaters (smashing roaches, sticking in nose, etc), but none of them in involve putting it in my aquarium. I think Jager are by far the best.
  7. I am all about people making up their own minds about places. But, I would definitely read this about Sea Save before going there (which I will never do again): LINK
  8. We have to know your gender, too.
  9. Tooth has new agreement with youtube. His videos are up to over 200,000 views.
  10. Just FYI: You can always take the behind the scenes tour without the club if you want to. I took it a few years ago. It was fun.
  11. A wise strategy with any LFS. (or used car lot)
  12. Sea save! Been a while since I heard anyone talking about them. There is a pretty amusing thread about them here: LINK I sometimes stop by Exotic Aquatics on my way to That Fish Place. I like the place. I think it is a little overpriced, but but not too bad. Love that display tank in front. Exotic Aquatics provides the best deal on PE mysis by a long, long, long way. But you need to buy the huge 40oz packs...and you may need to buy 10 (I did a GB last time and got enough takers in about an hour).
  13. Same here, heh. And I'm fine with it. I think customer service is greatly overrated in LFS. I don't go to LFS to make friends to hang out with. Most of the people who work in them are weirdos. Not to mention the people who shop in them. I go there to buy fish and corals. Any store that can provide more selection gets my business. That is why I pretty much only go to Roozens and That Fish Place nowadays.
  14. This is likely. Mine tend to stay in their holes for a couple days after they molt. Is it a big or small one? If it is a big one, they usually don't molt in one piece. Better chance it is still alive if it was a small one. Is there something in the tank that would eat it if it died?
  15. The pricing situation can be irritating, and can depend on many factors, including whether the guy is in a good mood, whether he knows you, etc...I often just decline when I do not like the price (like at any other LFS) But, in general, I find the prices on the same things fairly consistent from trip to trip. I often guess the exact price before Jos tells me the price (I usually try to deal with Jos). Most corals are sold by size. 38/48/58 are common prices for small, med, large rocks for common corals. Some fish as well. I know for a long time their going price for a small-ish achilles tank was either $38 or $48. That was a few years ago, but I could never find one elsewhere for under $100. And yes, it lived.
  16. You'll get wildly different opinions. You should really check it out yourself and make your own decision. Some people think the place seems dirty and do not like it (I have tested their water, and it was very clean). Others do not like it because some of the fish are in small containers...there are people who hate the place as if it is their religion for some reason. I like the place because they have a greater selection than any other LFS, by a long, long way. From mantis shrimp to different types of cow fish, pinecone fish gem tangs dragon eels, nautilus...you just never know what you will see there. It has been my favorite LFS for a long time. tim
  17. We should come up with a name for the zoos the vapors of which Steve sniffed and regretted. StevesBane? SniffMeNots?
  18. If it were me, I would leave it alone until I am positive it is going to die, then speed it on it's journey at that point. I would not try medications.
  19. That is pretty interesting. Good to know there is an easy way to tell the good from the bad, at least in this case. I wonder what makes the "bad" product a yellow color. Hopefully it isn't cat pee again.
  20. They are beneficial as long as you don't have a zillion.
  21. I had a thornback for a long time. Model citizen, beautiful and interesting fish.
