  1. I love the snow, too. Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow...
  2. I went to the Dairy Godmother earlier today and had some frozen custard, which I hadn't planned to do.
  3. I've seen single porcupine puffers many times, but never a school. There were at least 50, ranging in size from golf ball up to almost football. I went back the next day and swam out to the same place...and they were still there. It was right at the edge of a big drop off way out far from shore.
  4. I'm doing well, thanks. I just got back from my annual Hawaii snorkeling trip. It's amazing the quantity and variety of fish there. I saw eels longer and bigger around than my arm, rays, octopus, dolphins, turtles, sharks, huge schools of yellow and lavendar tang...achilles, moorish idols, several types of boxfishes, even a huge school of porcupine puffers, I've never seen them in a school before...and tons of other fish. I don't try to take underwater pics anymore, I just enjoy the fish, but here's a pic from last year's trip when I hiked up to an active lava flow. If it looks like I'm in a lot of pain in this pic, that's because I am. That stuff is super hot, it was burning me at that distance.
  5. Christmas seems to be coming around about once a year these days.
  6. Hi Tom, If you're asking if the thread should be closed: sure If you're asking if the tank is close to you so you can go admire it...I'll leave that to the new owner. If you're indicating socle with an anagram: Hideosity Dewater Hue
  7. This has moved on to it's new home. Nice meeting Dave and Brian...and tanks to them for their great feat of strength separating the inseparable plastic buckets!
  8. I'm a little bit surprised no one is jumping on a free tank and stand! I might break the tank down myself so I can bust it up if necessary. Are there any LFS around Alexandria that still accept donations of fish (African cichlids in this case)? thanks! tim
  9. Hi folks, I'm in a rather unusual situation where I need to clear out my 75G tank and stand. You can see the build thread here: http://wamas.org/forums/topic/38771-my-75-gallon-stand/ It's a nice tank and stand. Clean, sturdy. Blank silicone. Old school standard output light. I'm keeping all the pumps, heaters, overflow box, etc. The tank is currently set up for freshwater. There are currently african cichlids in the tank. I need you to take them as well. I don't mind if you donate them to a LFS, etc. I can keep the rocks and substrate if you don't want it. I need this gone ASAP. If it isn't gone soon, I may need to bust it up and throw it away. Priority to whoever can get it first. I've attached a current photo of the setup. It looks about the same as in the build thread. Someone come get this! tim
  10. I've been pretty good, thanks. Traveling a lot, pursuing other hobbies. Working for the man. I was in the parking lot earlier today and just randomly thought about this incident, and just busted out laughing right there on the spot. "Are you retarded!?" Heh. I saw some folks eating fugu sushi in Japan a few weeks ago. I didn't ask them if they were retarded.
  11. Well...it hurt! It didn't tear my finger off or crush it or anything, but it made a small bruise and was sore for a little while. I've been struck quite a few times, that's about the extent of what it seems a smasher can do, even a big peacock. I never had a spearer, I was scared of getting skewered (still am!). I had that guy in the 2.5G tank trying to see if he could break the super thin glass. He hit it hundreds of times...didn't seem close to being able to break it...and that glass was very, very thin. I had a bunch of other mantis in that tank trying as well...I really wanted to make a video showing them actually breaking the glass of the aquarium they were in, but alas...I don't believe they can. I'm everywhere! Yeah, I actually didn't discover his stuff until after he contacted me asking for permission to use some of my mantis stuff, when I watched some of his other videos. They're pretty funny. I like this one: -https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Jz0JcQYtqo
  12. I used to have a bunch of them, but I don't have any anymore. I bought some at Roozen's. At least 1 was given to me as a hitchhiker by a member. I had a bunch of small (like 2.5G and 5G) tanks I used to keep the smaller ones in. The part at the end of the ZeFrank video is in a Chiragra mantis in a 2.5G tank. Here's the full video I made that ZeFrank harvested from: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KLHlK09HuHY
  13. FYI: A bunch of that footage is mine, filmed by me in my own tanks, used by ZeFrank via agreement. That's even me at the very end (last 10 seconds or so)...I'm the only other voice on the soundtrack! I also licensed/sold some of this to National Geographic that I later saw on TV. Mantis shrimp are awesome. tim
  14. Hi Dave, Mantis are awesome! I licensed a bunch of my footage to national geographic and have seen it on TV multiple times with my name in the credits, I love that. I'm pretty much out of it at this point, though...been pursuing other hobbies. Happy holidays! tim
