  1. I have a Mag 12 on my 90g. I Tee the return and have a portion feed the fuge section of the sump.
  2. Oops. I have not cleaned my sump in 5 years (no sponge filter) . I do like the air scrubber idea. I may have to try that one out.
  3. Around 6am on Saturday I lost power and it did not come back on until around 3pm. I put a battery operated air pump on duty and covered the tank with blankets. I knew that that alone would probably not to it so I dug out the car and moved it up into the drive where I used a power inverter running off the car and powered my Tunze 6055 and a 50 watt heater (I just let the car run as not to drain my battery). The heater was not big but I figured anything would help. Temp on the tank went down to about 74 degrees and so far no losses. On the other side of a creek from my house are houses where Tom (Origami2547) lives a couple of streets over and I could see they had power. Lucky him. First time my power has gone out for that long since living in Ashburn since 1993. Previous time may have been an hour.
  4. The NWS forecast on the low side for Asbhurn is now 24 in and 36 on the top end. I will go with 32 inches in 20147.
  5. This is mine from years ago. Went with a midnight blue to keep it a darker color. Use a roller meant for smooth surfaces. Not a standard wall roller, the smooth surface is a foam roller that will install on a typical roller handle.
  6. If you look at the fedex link listed above and go to the section on "Live Animals and Ornamental Marine Life (Including Live Fish)" FEDEX could deny shipment on all our frags/fish if not a business to business transaction. Frags taken from parent colony is a pure profit, plain and simple, no loss of money to him. If it was the only piece and he paid a high price for it, then he would be. However, if this was a frag of a larger colony, he should work a deal with you (refund or replace). He lost no money and if this is the case not a nice person (can't type what I really think).
  7. Hunter, I did a quick search on the "The T5 Q&a Thread" on Reefcentral. The master of T5 bulb knowledge the Grim Reefer seems to suggest the following. I know the UVL and the Aquablue will take out some of the blue you are trying to achieve. Blue Plus Fiji Purple or UVL 75/25 (Halide) Aquablue Blue Plus
  8. If your dosing is near the minimum rate the LMIII can handle (say 60 ml/day), you can double the rate of addition by the unit, but decrease the concentration of the solution by the same factor. This way the unit could dose at 120 ml/day, but is still adding at a concentration of the 60ml/day. Lets say you normally mix 2 cups of product in one gallon of water. If you mix that same 2 cups in two gallons of water (1cup/gal) and double the dosing you will have the correct recommended concentration.
  9. With the litermeter you can have the source container up to 50 feet away I believe. If you can put them remotely and run the tubing to the LMIII and the tank.
  10. Too bad doug. At least you get that far. My pair lay eggs and they are around for awhile and they are gone. I have not attempted to put a tile in the main tank for them and go down that road.
  11. Got mine today. Man are these built solid. Made one myself before with eggcrate, this makes that look like a paper toy. But, the best part of my post is the story my wife told me about my delivery today. I did not tell here that a package will arrive with strong magnets in it. It came via the US Mail and went into our mailbox (big metal one). Well, when my wife reached in to get the mail and the box, she did not expect the box to react and be pulled back in after she grabbed it. Needless to say my wife let out a little yelp as the mailbox pulled the box back down! I found that very funny and thought I would share it with you.
  12. Only wish my looked that like that.
  13. darn it ... did it again.
  14. You could go and buy a new Spectrapure Litermeter III and secondary pump. or For about the same price get a calcium reactor and not worry about dosing for a more long term solution. Luckly, I got my LM III plus two extra pumps from a WAMAS member for a lot less money.
  15. double post. sorry
  16. Waiting is right. Be patient. I waited six months before I put my first fish in, I just added corals slowly at first. But that was me. Fish add a large bioload, let your system mature.
  17. Tattoo bearing folks could comment on that.
  18. Good link. Thanks for the info.
  19. Yes, I have my RO/DI connected directly to my sump and after 4+ years, never a problem with the setup or tank. I have a float switch to activate a solenoid when the water level gets low. There is also a high water level float switch that will turn off the solenoid if it is activated. I have a timer on my as well that will only let power go to the solenoid twice a day for a 10 min period each. Regardless of if the float switches fail, the solenoid will only be open during those times. My water requirement and that time period are close, so my water levels stay in check. I have been using equipment from www.autotopoff.com, check them out.
  20. Reefers are dropping like flies. Sorry to here the news. If you are going to be a closest reefer, I would at least see if someone would 'hold' your bleeding apple. That one is just to nice to part with!
  21. You get what you pay for. Regarding electrical devices near water is not a place to go on the cheap.
  22. Just have a tube going from the main sump area off a powerhead and into and down to the bottom of the fuge container. This will keep detritus suspended and the water will just upwell out of the container.
  23. I will get one out tonight.
  24. I just have a 29g sump with a section partitioned off and the water flows over the top edge into the return section. I do not get any plant material going over. If it close, I just push the mass of plants material down into the fuge further. By taking Tom's suggestion, the same might work with the second container having water pumped into it and letting if overflow out. Set the height of this fuge just above the sumps water and you would not get much splashing either.
