  1. Saw his tank last Sunday. Really nice corals that stand out agiant the black sand.
  2. http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/1-4-mur-lok-polyethylene-ro-tubing.html
  3. I have not been active on the boards for quite some time and to see this was truly sad. Rest in peace Bob, you are missed.
  4. So what are opinions out there on what the best lineup of pumps are?
  5. Lamark's Angelfish. Not expensive Reef safe (Mine has never picked at corals or clams) Grows nice streamers off its tail. Eats anything you feed your tank. (Meats or Veggies)
  6. Similarity with Vortech is in name only it looks, so comparison/discussion that it is not like a Vortech are not worth it in my opinion. Comparisons with the Tunze is in order. This is modeled after the Tunze's, down to the bracket shape/pattern and the cord on the wet side. However, the magnet holder looks to be similiar to the Hydor Koralia. Anyone else notice that they look pieces from existing brands.
  7. I have just put a longer tube on mine. No change in production of bubbles.
  8. I have a Lamark Angel fish in a 90 that has a large clam, sps, lps, softies, zoas, etc. Never touched a thing. Pig of an eater to whatever food I put in there. Had him for many years now. Him and my Yellow Tang are buddies.
  9. My chaeto has never tumbled. Very slow flow off Tee from the return and never had a problem of it not growing.
  10. When that thing closes fast, how strong is the jet of water from the exhalent opening? Any chance of the water stream breaking the surface?
  11. Never has for me. They get sucked right in and blasted into the main tank. Fish go crazy chasing the food. Best thing is, any small fish have a chance too because it disperses the food throughout the tank quickly.
  12. I have a Mag 12 with just the large plastic strainer over the intake. Never have put the foam on. All goes in - cut up Nori (0.5 - 1.0 cm squares), 1mm pellets, and flakes. I also throw a small amount of reef chili in too.
  13. I have my auto feeder over the return section of my sump. The food is quickly pumped into the main tank. I have been doing this for 7 years with no problems interfering with my return pump.
  14. I put a mixture of small pieces of Nori I chop up, some pellet, and a bit of flake food. The feeder drops the food into the return section of the sump. This allows the food to to come into the main tank in the water column, not on the surface. Fish have to chase after the food and disperses it allowing smaller fish a chance too.
  15. Last weekend I went out for dinner and came home to the tank water level down. Checked the sump and it was full, problem main pump stopped working - Mag 12. Opened it up and the impeller was not spinning. The ceramic shaft gets calcium buildup and 'freezes' the impeller in place on it. Carefully tapped on end of shaft for a bit and then pushed shaft up through the impeller. Then I flipped it over and pushed it back. Did this several time before a very small screw driver could push it all the way out. Then I went at removing the calcium buildup on the inside of the impeller and on the shaft. Just remember during maintenance on the pump to keep that ceramic shaft clear of buildup Totally clean now and the pump is working fine again like it has been for the past 7+ years.
  16. Joe, Sorry to see you getting out of the hobby. BTW, I still got those Litermeter III's running I got from you. Chris
  17. You should smell it after a large clam spawns. Skimmate was whitish color and likes to create foam easily
  18. My Tunze pumps will do that if it starts from being off. Being in a wavebox does not matter. You could try a new impeller, but that will probably not fix it. Going to pulse mode so the impeller never has to start from a complete stop would be your best bet. Roger at Tunze USA is awesone. I had a problem with my 6055 and in the end it was discovered the motor was failing (intermittent problem). I paid a total of about 125 for repairs and got a completely brand new pump (motor, housing, and impeller). Much cheaper that a brznd new one.
  19. I dont have an APEX, but I did see posts out there in various forums on the web about modifying an Eheim Auto Feeder to be controlled by APEX. This would be very handy in preventing the feeder to dump food if other things are wrong or have failed when you are away and receive notification from the controller. Just another thing that a controller can do for you.
  20. The 1/2 version of the Murlock fitting will work from BRS. This is what I have on my MJ feeding a media reactor. Tubing I use is from BRS 1/2 murlok polyethylene ro tubing
  21. Dont have a 6095, but I wanted to just comment on recent service from Roger at Tunze USA. After sending my unit in and coming back and then back to him, cause what he though was the problem was not. In the end, my motor block on my 6055 was failing and the power supply being 4 years old would probably fail soon. Roger quoted me that for $125 I could get a replacement motor block and power supply. This week I got my delivery and to my surprise, it was a brand new 6055 (everything in the box). Wow, a brand new 6055 for $125. Way to Go TUNZE! Cant go wrong with them, excellent customer support, even way beyond any warranty period.
  22. From the Ocean Motions web page... "OceansMotions has recently been impacted by a number of issues, a health issue has laid me up and I am still recovering. Manufacturing has slowed to a point where the machine shop had to be closed. OM product motors have been discontinued at local levels, and prices have substantially increased from the manufacturer. I have decided for the moment to put on hold making the OM product line as it was and redesign certain products with the latest technology available. I am presently sourcing components to service new and existing customers. Many thanks to all that have supported us in the past and we look forward to the future with new and enhanced products. Paul"
