  1. I can't say anything about other ones but I believe derasa clams are meant to be on the sandbed so I have mine on the sand. I have two derasas, a giant one that I got from lowsingles in feb this year and a small one from live aquaria a month? ago. https://imgur.com/a/uKsUuN1 I am running hydra 52HD, and the big one gets 180~150 par and the little one gets like 100~120 par. Running with a refugium and infrequent auto water changes, no skimmer and filtersocks. Nitrates 5~10, phosphates .09. Alkalinity is 7.11 being tested 4 times a day by alkatronic and dosing all for reef to keep things stable. I dose kz sponge power at full dose and LPS amino at half dose manually, not dosing any phyto right now. I'm surprised to hear you're having a lot of trouble with your system considering your tank photos I see. Maybe try dosing more clam foods like sponge powder?
  2. Thanks, I didn't know about it I'll check it out. So when you use the solenoid, do you only shutoff the output valve and let the backpressure shut off the waste production? Or do you shut off the input
  3. You could use a large brute trash can and fill it with RODI water maybe? I can't imagine a 10 gallon system will go through more than 20~30 gallons of evaporation in a month right? And maybe you can use an auto feeder to feed tiny amounts every day and set it up like a month before you leave so you can deal with any problems that might occur
  4. Is anyone using an automated tool to fill their brute trash can whenever it gets low and stop it when it gets high? Right now I'm thinking about using a pair of neptune optical sensors + solenoid to do it but was wondering if there are cleaner ways to do it
  5. It's a steel skeleton with a wood panel screwed on. Only thing is I'm not sure if the wood panel is attached securely enough to the metal skeleton for it to hold a lot of weight.
  6. Thanks! I guess ill bedoing 2 of those + corner gusset and hopefully that's good enough. Now I'm trying to figure out how to mount it onto the stand so that it's actually secure and won't come off.
  7. I managed to bring home and setup tpallas' peninsula drop-off tank, and it came with a 24" T5 fixture I would like to use, except I am told no drilling this time. I thought about using a floating mount like this video: I'd copy what he did, use 1515 with gusset + plates and drill it into the stand on one side. Anyone have any experience designing something similar? I'm worried on if a L joint would hold up to the weight of the 24" T5 fixture well enough or if it would end up failing. I would appreciate any sort of insight. Thanks! Alternatively, looking for suggestions on how to mount LED's to the tank in a clean way, assuming I use the LED arms for each LED. One in the back and one to the side maybe?
  8. Thank's for the advice, ended up sealing my anemones in ziplocs to drop off at a store, I'm going to throw them in to a larger one so it's still safe even if it pops. Thanks, will order for next time
  9. Whoa these are really cool! Didn't even realize people had mudskipper tanks at this club What species of crab is that in the second video?
  10. Selling off my livestock and just realized that I've run out of plastic bags I got from the fish store when I bought stuff. Anyone know if any stores sell small and large bags? If not I guess things are going into zip lock bags for now
  11. I'm considering selling my REEFER 350 and upgrading to a larger 4' or 6' aquarium. Do you have any recommendations on what brands to look for? I'd prefer a tank that includes stand/sump, but if you know separate setups that are pretty cost effective, I'd love to hear it too. Thanks
  12. I know both Reef eScape and Quantum reefs have moving services but it was fairly expensive, I believe I was quoted like $90/hr/person for one of the stores? Might have been higher. This was also the price at January last year so things might be different now
  13. Thanks for the heads up, I'll check them out as
  14. $449 per unit + external controller. Is this the most expensive single pendant fixture? I sure hope the price increase is justified somehow
  15. Maybe wait a bit and see what the Kessil A360X brings to the table at what price? We might see a decreased price on the older A360 models new and also some second hand models on sale as well. Jk it's being distributed around November, probably too late for what you're looking to get.
