Stand looks good! Following along with a fellow 40 gal reefer! Sent from my SM-G970U1 using Tapatalk -
You should be able to get away with nearly anything. As long as it's capable of handling any height you have Sent from my SM-G970U1 using Tapatalk

Maybe you could just ask a nearby petstore if you could purchase one of the cheesy ornaments in the display. They could just replace it with a new one. Would only cost a few bucks I imagine and would at least have a decent amount of bacteria to seed the 2 gallon. Sent from my SM-G970U1 using Tapatalk

40 Breeder! The dimensions are awesome. If you don't go with a custom aquarium like a waterbox or Innovative Marine tank.

That's so awesome!... Sent from my SM-G970U1 using Tapatalk

Did you mention to the homeless guy that you happen to like aquariums? Or did he just say here, save my fish ramdomly.... I'm kind of curious how this all went down. The Betta lying still for a bit, sounds like typical Betta behavior. Glad it's still alive! Congrats on saving him! Sent from my SM-G970U1 using Tapatalk

Oh, and the Chinese black box lights (anything listed at 165W on Amazon, eBay, etc) work too. *Edit* Just realized your tank is already wet, don't think fijicube would be an option. CPR and AquaC make HOB skimmer/fuges... basically a HOB Sump.

I cracked a Nuvo 20 and had to do an emergency setup. Picked up a 20l from Petco and turned it into an AIO. Works pretty well, and wouldn't take more than a day to make. If it were me, I'd probably buy a 20L and put it somewhere out of the affected area and transfer rock and inhabitants to the new tank. I wouldn't mess with sand in the temp setup. With the 2 primes you have it'd be a smooth transition, I would think. Sent from my SM-G970U1 using Tapatalk

Out of curiosity.... Is there any reason you're sticking with the 30 tall? I only ask because I started with a 20 tall. It was the worst tank I've ever owned. You can get a 20 long or a 40 breeder at Petco during their sale for $20/$50 respectively. Additionally, I'm a big fan of jebao/jecod powerheads... Theyre no vortechs but they're adjustable and inexpensive. They also have return pumps, if you decide on a sump (so convenient). Also, if you're not sold on a sump (they're not for everyone). Check out fijicube. They make all-in-one inserts for a lot of different tanks. Par38 bulbs and aquaknight fixtures are budget friendly and have been highly recommended before. I have no experience with either but the aquaknight (called something else on Amazon) gets great reviews.

Wow, your new tank is awesome. Then again, so is your old one! Sent from my SM-G970U1 using Tapatalk -
Fintastic in Frederick is my favorite LFS in the DMV. Its a bit of a hike for me but their prices are good and their fish have been really healthy. I'll have to go see them in a month or two to get a new wrasse.... Unfortunately mine decided to go carpet surfing. I had a lid too, darn thing jumped out of an inch gap caused by the RMS mount. Welcome! That looks an old fishneedit fixture I used to have! And I can relate about the wife not knowing what she's getting into.... I met my wife on Guam where I didn't have a tank, and didn't really need one. Fast forward three years and she's now finding out how much I obsess over this hobby! Theres a decent LFS in Springfield too, Quantum Reefs. Sent from my SM-G970U1 using Tapatalk -
Took me a second but I think I understand. You are either putting each end of the tank on a dolly, or abandoning them for the moment and putting them on the floor? This was an empty tank right? How big are the Dolly's? Rimless tank I assume? Sent from my SM-G970U1 using Tapatalk

Ah it has two, so herbies it is. I think I had the 700gph Glass-Holes kit. I like the overflow... Loved the company (shame that they went under). The overflow is not horrendously noisy but isnt super silent either. I had it connected to a 426 gph pump (Rio 1400+) so it wasn't maxed out.... I've got a jebao/jecod dcs 2000 now so we'll see how it handles the extra 100 gph. Sent from my SM-G970U1 using Tapatalk

That's what I'm wondering. They are different styles of overflows. The glass-holes one served me well for a year, then I had to take my tank down. But the eshopps one is a bean animal ( I think ) style with 2 drain pipes vs the glass-holes single drain. Sent from my SM-G970U1 using Tapatalk

Something that I've done in the past is tank some tank water, and your refractometer to a friend's house and test against their refractometer.... Also an option is to take it to an LFS and ask them to check it. Supreme Reefs did mine no problems. Even adjusted it for me. Sent from my SM-G970U1 using Tapatalk

Not to thread jack but do you have any experience with glass-holes overflows?... I currently have one of their overflow on my tank and I'm debating if it's worth upgrading to the eshopps overflow... Sent from my SM-G970U1 using Tapatalk

Was just about to say Chewy.com has them for $34 and Reef Crystals for $36. They send me coupons all the time so I'm sure that'll sweeten the deal. Though, I'm not sure if the coupons can be found online or not. Sent from my SM-G970U1 using Tapatalk

Looking on Amazon they have an 8 pack of inexpensive casters. You could buy they and a sheet of 1/2" plywood, mount the casters on it and I would think you'd be good to go. When you're done you can use the wood for a stand or something and make some furniture Dolly's with the casters haha Sent from my SM-G970U1 using Tapatalk

Im finding a lot of things ironic lately.... Like the fact that, just a few days ago, I bought a furniture dolly to put my 20 gallon on so I could roll it into the other room while I get carpet put down in my basement. According to Amazon, my $14 dolly (18"x30") is rated for 1k lbs. If you put 4+ of them together and placed plywood on top to distribute the weight evenly, I would imagine it would hold. Just my $.02.... Sent from my SM-G970U1 using Tapatalk
