  4. If just growing LPS you are good to go
  5. They are in 12" of water. Never had them deeper so I have no idea. But 12" works for me and others (never seen a dead worm) I have on a few occasions seen a live one floating with air bubble in stomach? Maybe that's the small loss I suffer with deep water system?
  6. All black worms do is eat, party and reproduce Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. He's right. I designed this system to be as easy, maintenance free and cheap as possible so I don't lose interest in it. I just want to give my fish a free live treat once a week without making trip to LFS. It's been going well over a year on two tablespoons of worms. i will buy a larger lump of worms and will post up in 6 months. Here are recent pics. I lost interest in doing water changes so the water has a continual algae bloom. A reefer thought it was green water for Rotifer lol. It's an eye sore but the worms love the algae.
  8. Good questions. I will post a pic later. I still feed a good sized pinch of worms once per week there is no population growth they just maintain since I'm feeding the growth to the fish. It seems the more I feed the worms the more they reproduce. I would think a large number of worms would work in this setup but keep in mind these buggers have large appetites. So they wouldn't do well in the shallow setups due to ammonia spike or water quality. I don't understand why people put towels in the tanks. Probably because some scientist said to but they don't need it and it just gets in the way. Also the scientists say to use a shallow system. Hobbiest have proven that wrong and I think we see better growth due to the water quality and option to feed larger quantities.
  9. http://wamas.org/forums/topic/64196-how-to-raisekeep-blackworms-the-cheap-easy-way/ They are still growing strong
  10. Mystic sunset should be placed in high lighting on a rock. They don't like sand and stuff on the bottom hitting it also they like the stronger light at the top. Use extreme caution if turning the d120lights up. I run mine at that same intensity maybe just slightly stronger. and if I get much stronger the other corals fry.
  11. Yea! If you don't drop the prized ones in the trash then put them in sump. They clean house
  12. Just some stupid pictures taken during a life threatening event during snail rescue in MP40 stuck! health inspection!release! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. I know where my flood river flows now but luckily tank is now in basement. I know the feeling hang in there if you enjoy the tank! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. They reproduced very fast in my fishless frag tank but collecting them was difficult and impractical. the best way is to grow chaeto in sump/fuge and every few days take chaeto out and shake it in display water. A couple pods will abandon ship! Only problems with this is the chaeto shaking in water can release some stuff, dirt, or pooh that got stuck in it. I usually just pick up some live brine or black worms at LFS so the fish can get a nice live treat
  15. They don't have MP40s in the wild lol so it takes them a month or so to learn how to swim with it.
  16. Pretty much in a 29g tank if there is a single pod eating fish it will continue to deplete the population almost completely unless there is a fishless area in th display like small reef is talking about. I'm convinced that pods don't live after getting pumped through a pump (getting sucked in sump pump and shot out in display)
  17. Now if they look like this it's time to research the heck out of flatworm exit. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. When anyone in this hobby first sees a flatworm they automatically think danger! There are lots of types of flatworms and the most common type I have seen looks like this. It's an algae eater and is on your glass because that's where their food is. I have Never had acro eating flatworms but I'm pretty sure they don't graze on the glass at night eating algae. Fish love the ones pictured so typically you will only see these in a fishless fuge or sump. Fish will control their population. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. How do you know releasing them Into bay is working?
  20. I like the PE. It's probably just settling in.
