Strongly suggest getting a small biopellet reactor set up in your current tank...let it colonize there and then leave it in the qt tank....helped alot with a monika spike with fish...mine was a 20 Oz soda and small pump diy. Other option is to use your water change water to supply constant bacteria...2 gal every couple days etc Maybe add a chromi or two to keep some food for the corals

Yes will stay bare bottom..... Plan on going fish and zoas only for a while to make sure those worms are gone.....then will get back my stickhead reputation with a mainly sps tank with a few clams if all goes well So far she is filled up and will do a last plumbing test tonight. Then add salt aND some rock then fish... So far it will be Blue face angel Purple tang (this may change depending on rock work but it's one of the kids fav) Bartlett anthias Clowns Cleaner wrasse And will probably add a wrasse or two down the road to replace the jumpers I just lost last week...guess my screen wasn't sitting right. Will be powered by an avast cs1 Mp40 Avast reactors/ato/kalk stirrer Avast ca rx in due time Probably some d120 t5 mix for now in a canopy Avast auto water change Hopefully I'll get it all into a nice schedule and be much happier 3rd baby coming early February

Been a while and time for an update So the 156 got the worlds worst……AEFW….from a clam I purchased…..all went down hill from there and with time constraints I was almost breaking the tank down. Somehow I still have corals and lots of algae growing but…was just hard…didn’t want to throw away giant infested colonies….you would be surprised how many are doing ok. Now ive moved back to Arlington and was going to move the 156 over and revamp….was talked into downsizing to the 80g I was planning for a frag tank…..kinda happy how it turned out so far…will be a little less work. Not sure on lighting yet….may be a MH on a light mover, may be t5 led combo….just not sure yet. Tank is 48x24 by like 17 or so. Here is the progress so far. Got the tank moved into the new office Not a fan of blue background and clear bottom....painted bottom white and took away the blue First Livestock SLOOOOW fill That’s its for now waiting for the fill and double checking plumbing etc then will start to transfer over what im keeping and getting rid of the rest…..didnt realize how much stuff ive accumulated over the years. Hopefully ill be able to keep this one lookin nice.

Honda eu3000 is great....expensive but so quiet Champions etc are fine...just get them in the off season...we have a few at the farm etc....heavy and loud but work fine for the cost Most important thing of all is to use ethanol free gas.....run it dry for storage...... Ethanol is a horrible thing If you store outside build a shed or something and get a battery tender...they also have plastic storage things as well 3000-3500 will power some lights tv fridge and tank etc no problem....if you want a heater/ac etc you'll have to start counting watts. Do you want an automated switch over or manual..... Think about plug in placement and where you will run it....hopefully you can chain/secure it as well
-
Internet connection. For warning etc I'd look into a automated water change....talk with Justin. Could have it feed the qt system before the drain too Depending on dimensions think about how things will be reached...tongs grabbers....snorkeling etc If glass....magnetic blade cleaner. Skimmate locker

Going to be moving the tank again to the new office.....which has new bamboo floors... Trying to decide between my 156g or my 80 gal till I show that I can make the tank look nice but want to protect the floors Not thinking of floods but of small spills and just general damage from having a tank over it. Came across this http://www.dri-dek.com They have a heavy duty version for weight etc and wondered if anyone has used it or similar Other option is just to place it on the floor I plan on cleaning spills quickly but the dry deck seems like it would allow air circulation for anything that seeps under and the samples they sent me seem soft enough to not score up the floors too bad Stand is already built to hold water of spills inside Just not for trapped water under....and sick I can't silicon around the stand like I had in my fishroom started looking at options that wouldn't trap water/moisture Thanks in advance Yes I'm still alive

Lemme see some pics please...really wish I was there but can't complain too much since I'm racing

OK now that I have your attention. I just spent the other evening volunteering to move a bunch of stuff into the venue…..hooray me right…WRONG…I feel like a bad member only helping out with 1 thing 1 night….and with 2 kids I know its not easy to get time away to do this. HOLY COW…. The amount of work our officers and main volunteers are putting into this even is MIND BOGGLING. I am still laughing about how large this venue and event really is…I thought I got it and I was wrong until I saw it in person…I went…wow this is huge….they said oh this is just 1 room and it goes into a few more past those curtains. So the point to my thread is this……anyone volunteering thank you…thank you….thank you. To all those on the fence or only able to help a little If its just and hour, 30 minutes…whatever the case…any time you can commit to and actually give will be appreciated by everyone in attendance...i know its easy to say hey I can help and then back out….(gotta say ive done that before) but anyone that is willing….PLEASE help….while they may have things covered the amount of work would really be better with more people….if I could be here I would be volunteering even more after seeing all the work they are putting into this. Im not even going to be able to make this event but still needed to give some praise to those making this possible PLEASE offer to help in some way and show what this club is really about. If you see any of the volunteers officers etc…please either ask what you can do to help….OR BUY THEM A BEER…or two…just make sure to limit doug, or video tape it if the limit is lifted. MORE HELP IS NEEDED THAN WE THINK. I understand if you live far away hard to do the pre stuff…but offer yourself during the event and youll thank yourself later…. Here are is a pick of the first unloading….of GIVE aways

-
Zoas are more for me/grow out...I believe either my wantanabi has acquired a taste for them..well the nice ones of course...and the Blue face probably will one day I'm ok getting rid of the wantanabi but not the blue face and trying to plan ahead Key to the one tank look is pleasing the..umm...boss yes that's it

Will be moving locally in the near future and want to revamp the tank.... Tank will rest against a wall so basically 3 side viewable I plan on condensing into a single system vs 3 previously used. Trying to find a way to add a small zoa tank or section. Was thinking of getting a larger sump with a dedicated section or adding a small 10-20gal thay would be gravity fed or gravity overflow into the sump. Key is to make it appear as 1 tank...so fitting the other one inside the stand....which makes me turn towards a new sump layout with its own section Display is 5x2x2 156g....would be best if it fit within. That stand....I have an 80 gal (4×2) that could work of I changed the stand a little but Was hoping you guys could point to some examples or suggestions you have seen....I'm cheap so would love to use what I have but am not adverse to having something built. Other idea was to go smaller sump (30/40 breeder or 29g stndrd for skim reactors and return only and use the 30g cube on one side fed by the return which would overflow back into the sump.. Appreciate any ideas...probably over thinking and better to just use a bigger sump for ease of cleaning and less risk of leaks but? Will have a small equip room behind the wall for ca rx ato electrical etc so pretty much have all the space under the tank... (rocket engineer stand layout)

Oh man thought you were just playing along......but you are close it's a limiTed edition static cling shark...every time I take it down the kids put it up in a new position and lecture me about removing it... too funny
-
Haha no idea what kind it's supposed to be...hasn't grown any....never fed the thing and it hangs out on the glass all the time. Came home one day and the daughters had put it on there
-
Ok here are 2 shameful pics got giant sea hare.....check Shark still kicking it...and what's left of the corals
-
Well I'm sorta back from a long break.......haven't even looked at the sight ...many reasons from disgust with how I've let the tank go to....no time...to whatever... Somehow I still have fish and corals alive in both tanks Did a massive cleaning this weekend while the kids were at the beach.....cant believe how much better it's looking...unfortunately had some recent losses of some of my favorite sps.....not sure I'll be able to recover them as I don't know of anyone with them Plan on moving the tank in a month or two to its new home...that's gonna stink. But in the process of breaking s few things down and hoping to get to a single system vs the 2 running and multiple other tanks. So you'll be seeing some fs threads but I'm not out yet...just consolidating All the fish have faired very well....and I have a sea hare that is rediculously large...I mean huge I can't believe how much rock no can now see...pulled out some dead colonies etc and hopefully this will be the beginning of a new sps tank the way it should have been. Will try to be more active on the boards....missed it but at th same time needed to stop the addiction for a little...I guess I'm quitting quitting I'll start catching up on pms as I have time sorry for the no responses
