  1. Good fish selection at HOT usually. IO $39.98 per 200g box all day every day. Corals leave a lot to be desired.
  2. That's a big range of TDS out of your membrane, how old is the membrane? I am not on well water but I get 1 TDS out of my membrane consistently after I flush it.
  3. If you only got a 5 PSI increase I would suspect that something is wrong, either there is a way to adjust it on the pump or the pump is bad. I'd look for a video on BRS website or give them a call.
  4. Am using a milk crate in my sump for the skimmer to sit on
  5. I've used Clarified Electric in Catonsville 410-788-9034
  6. I check levels occasionally, I was dosing the Brightwell Potassium but didn't really see it do much
  7. Gotta love the box label "Please be Gentle Battlecorals Inside", wonder how many FedEx drivers think why do I have to be gentle, they're battlecorals?
  8. Nice stuff, I have really got to make the trip out to see you sometime
  9. What have you decided about lights? I was thinking either 2 Photon 32's or 4 of the D120's mounted sideways on my 180
  10. I would come visit occasionally if you had a storefront, would be more likely to visit in Frederick than Gaithersburg. I've looked at your corals and prices online and at meetings and been interested but just don't want to bother you at home to buy a couple of corals so I've never been by. Storefronts are tough though, both of the decent stores in Gaithersburg closed in the last few years but they were both mainly freshwater with a little saltwater.
  11. Don't know where you are but House of Tropicals carry's Larry's foods
  12. Don't trust the setting on the heater, they are usually bad. If your thermometers both read the same temperature trust the thermometers and keep lowering the setting on the heater until the thermometers gets down around 78 or so.
  13. Taking out the media plate sends the flow in all directions, my water in comes from a manifold which is higher than the reactor, maybe some backsiphon but they don't get to the manifold because I haven't seen any appear anywhere else
  14. That's what I did, I cut it off about 1" above the bottom and took out the lower media plate, I have the screen in the top of the reactor to keep any floaters in the reactor. Have a nice even rolling of the pellets in the reactor. Always seeing pods and tubeworms in my reactor.
  15. I have mostly BRS biopellets, probably some ATB and Warner pellets still in there somewhere, in a Avast Marine MR5-18 reactor, at least that's what I seem to remember it to be, don't see it on the site anymore was a taller model of their MR5. I just shortened the tube a little like instructed by Dan for the biopellets and they move well. I get some tubeworms in my reactor but nothing like the concentration in Justins. Does the biopellet nozzle make that much of a difference?
  16. No problem, I needed to test it for my own information anyway. A lot more Mg than there used to be.
  17. Just tested the new batch, using Red Sea Reef Foundation Pro test kit SG 1.025 Refractometer calibrated Ca 350 KH 10.2 dkh Mg 1280 Brand new bag of IO
  18. I just mixed up a batch, still working on getting the SG up, once everything get dissolved I'll test it.
  19. You know I have the Jedi Mind Trick from your old tank, when you get going I'll frag you a chunk. Your fat 6 line wrasse is still living and in my frag tank also.
  20. I don't remember adding anything to it to adjust the levels but I don't remember what the salt mixed up at. I'm not sure what I'm going to do when I run out of the red sea salt, I've been very happy with the way it mixes and it's levels but it's a pain to get, I might give Crystal Sea Bio-Assay another chance but I will be very careful to read the box, if I remember correctly it's a yellow box and the regular is a blue box.
  21. I used the Crystal Sea Bio-Assay for awhile and didn't have any problems with it, my tank did pretty good in fact. My LFS sold me a box of the regular Crystal Sea, I noticed the box didn't say bio-assay but they assured me it was, don't know what happened but my tank had a reaction. If you are looking for the scientific paper it used to be posted on Roozens website since they push Crystal Sea Bio-Assay. There for awhile the Bio-Assay was just too difficult to find locally. I switched back to IO after that, am currently using Red Sea Salt but it's a PITA to find locally and I'm tired of UPS destroying salt buckets so going back to IO after my last buckets gone.
  22. I'm 6'6" and from West Virginia, talk in a slow drawl most of the time...lol. Buddies in my bass club hung the name Big Country on me years back and it stuck so I use it on various forums
