  1. Thanks for the replies everyone. Justin is closest to me, and I should be able to fit everything in a 70 gal and my sump. Going home and sleeping for a bit. Crazy busy shift at the trauma center yesterday with the warm weather and all. Take care everyone!!
  2. Thanks for the responses everyone. Just started a 24 hour shift today, so won't be off work until tomorrow morning. I'll check back here in a few hours to see if anyone else has checked and offered anything else. Looking for something large enough to store all the liverock and livestock for a week or so until I can fix the main tank. Thanks again everyone for all the offers!!!
  3. My 150gal cube has sprung a leak. It's a small drip, so I have time. I work all day Saturday, but then I'm off for a few days. I'm in desperate need of some storage containers. If anyone has one of those huge Rubbermaid tubs that would work like a charm. Please tell me someone has one of them I can borrow for about a week or two. I can pickup on Sunday anytime. Thanks in advance. Hope all is well everyone. James
  4. Thats the plan. I'm getting the liter pack from BRS in my order. Was gonna start up carbon and GFO again, but I'll try this again instead.
  5. Nah, I ran biopellets when they first came out. I've never used bioballs, nothing but nitrate factories from everything I read over a decade ago. I never noticed a difference when I ran the biopellets so I coudln't justify the cost. They were a good deal more expensive when they first came out. I tried them because it was back when carbon dosing was being used more and more and the concept of the biopellets seems good in theory. I looked and I can't find the article where Sanjay evaluated biopellets. Really weird. I specifically recall him not being overly impressed with them. I've read a bunch of other stuff on biopellets and it appears I may have not used them long enough to see full effect. I used them when they first came out and they were really really new. Maybe I'll give them another try with my bulkreefsupply order tonight.
  6. I had no idea that many people were still running biobellets. Maybe I need to go read up some more.
  7. I personally will never run a tank without a UV sterilizer. I've had ich outbreaks in every tank in the past where I didn't have a UV sterilizer setup, and yes with proper quarantine and otherwise healthy parameters. I agree with needing the proper exposure. I've been running a 57watt Aqua UV unit which according to their website is strong enough to kill parasites at around 1000gph running through it. I run maybe 500gph through it just to be safe. And (knock on wood), I've never had parasite or ich problems in my tank while this unit has been up and running. Just my experience. In regards to biopellets, I thought Sanjay had written an article about an experiment he did at Penn State that basically debunked biopellets having any positive effect?? Or even negative effects with alkalinity?? When the biopellets first came out, didn't a bunch of people have a bunch of corals die off or major negative impacts on their systems?? Please correct me if I'm wrong. I've been off this site and haven't really kept up with alot of the new literature of the hobby in the past few years, so I'm somewhat out of touch with new technologies.
  8. There is a residue that you must first wash out of a new filter sock before putting into your tank. I've made the same mistake. Never harmed my tank and will go away eventually
  9. Looked at the stand again. It's not warped at all actually. Just got a little dirty in storage. So I'm heading to Home Depot today. Does it matter what kind of foam it is?? If k recall correctly, there are many kinds.
  10. Wow, defintely one of the nicest anenomes I've seen. If that thing divides, can I put down my deposit now!!! (I'M TOTALLY SERIOUS!!!)
  11. I've seen many people put that high density foam under their tanks. Is this needed, or more of a precautionary thing? My equipment for the overflow is in the mail and should be here Thursday, so I'll be putting my 150gal cube on its stand shortly. Its a rimless tank tank, which is why I'm asking. Steve's stand is pretty darn solid, but top of the stand appears to have some warps in it since not having the tank on top of it for a couple years. As always, any advice is much apprecaited.
  12. Looking good Dan!! I remember seeing that tank when you first set it up. I remember thinking, he it totally going to upgrade to a 6' long tank one day. I was right!!!!
  13. yeah bro, all is well. Bought a house last August and got married in November. Life is good! Its been so long, can't even remember who might owe me what. Once the tank is ready, I'll gladly make a trip out to VA and snag whatever you're offering though
  14. Thanks guys. Its feeling good to be back. I've had my 60gal cube this whole time, just finally have the house to start the 150gal. I told myself I wouldn't set it up until I'm making mortgage payments. FINALLY have my own home!!! So after reading around, I'm definitely doing a Bean overflow. I think its worth the extra plumbing to have the extra safety feature in the second siphon drain. Still some questions for you guys. I want to use a Sea Swirl to return the water back to the tank, so I don't want a coast to coast overflow. Going with a 18" or a 24" overflow box. I think the 18" will be sufficient for drilling 3 holes. I'm going to drill the holes 4-4.5" down from tank rim, but how far apart should each hole be drilled from each other. I was thinking 3" apart should be sufficiently stable since the glass is 3/4" thick. Is there a rule of thumb to be followed when drilling tanks for this?? I've never seen one. If 3" apart is good, then I'm probably going to go with the 18" overflow box. Good to see all the same folks are hanging out here. Look forward to catching up with everyone!!! Its been a whiiiiiiiile!!!
  15. Howdy Wamas-ers!!! Long time no talk. I'm finally a homeowner and setting up the 3'X3' 150 gal cube tank I got from Steve a year or so back. The tank here: http://wamas.org/forums/topic/39346-steveoutlaws-150g-cube/page__hl__%2B150+%2Bcube The tanks is going agaisnt a wall with a utility room behind it, so I'm going to drill the tank and run through the wall. My question is where can I get a quality overflow?? I used a glassholes.com overflow for my 60 gal cube and it was loud as helll. I'd like to do a Bean overflow but I'm having trouble finding someone who will make me an overflow for the inside. Being that the house is mine and I'm no longer renting, i'd like to have as many backups as possible, having a Bean overflow looks to be the safest bet. Any help is much appreciated everyone!!
